Job description

Amazon is looking to hire a Senior Manager, Public Policy to join a growing and dynamic team that works in support of Amazon's energy, environmental, and sustainability goals. Across our entire operation, Amazon is working to transition to carbon-free energy, reduce waste, and limit our impact on the environment.
In this role, the Senior Manager will develop and execute policy and advocacy strategies to advance Amazon's energy and climate goals at the federal and state level. They will coordinate across the federal policy team and with regional policy managers responsible for engaging on legislation and build positive relationships with policymakers. They will assess and anticipate public policy matters, execute external advocacy efforts, and drive key initiatives. The Senior Manager will analyze proposed legislation, policies, and regulations related to energy, carbon accounting, and GHG protocols. They will translate relevant developments for stakeholders in the business. The Senior Manager will work collaboratively with business, legal, and communications teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and execute policy and advocacy strategies to advance Amazon's energy and climate goals at the federal and state level.
- Coordinate across the federal policy team and with regional policy managers responsible for engaging on legislation and build positive relationships with policymakers.
- Assess and anticipate public policy matters, execute external advocacy efforts, and drive key initiatives.
- Analyze proposed legislation, policies, and regulations related to energy, carbon accounting, and GHG protocols and translate relevant developments for stakeholders in the business.
- Work collaboratively with business, legal, and communications teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 12+ years of public policy experience
- Experience in public policy, government, corporate social responsibility or NGOs working on relevant topics.
- Experience with climate, environment, energy, or sustainability policy.
- An ability and desire to travel is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- J.D., or Master's degree
- Experience in government or representing a large, complex company or association.
- Experience working with or in federal or state governments.
- Demonstrated ability to be both a substantive issue expert and a manager of complex political relationships.
- Experience working with public policy stakeholders and experience managing multiple policy issues.
- Demonstrated ability to understand how technical language in legislative and regulatory proposals could affect corporate operations, identify business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal customers.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others is required.
- Ability to demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and political acumen.
- Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate and political levels.
- Ability to deliver in ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
