What you'll do...

As a NAVL Operations Analyst, you will play a critical role within Ford's Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) organization. You will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the vehicle distribution network, ensuring vehicles are efficiently transported from destination rail ramps to their final destinations. This role requires a strategic thinker who can manage daily logistics operations, collaborate with third-party service providers, analyze logistics data to drive continuous improvement, and manage costs. You will act as a key liaison between carrier partners, yard operators, and internal Ford business units to ensure our vehicles reach customers safely and on schedule.

Operations & Inventory Management

  • Daily Oversight: Lead day-to-day operations and vehicle movement across multiple US destination rail ramps to ensure shipping schedules align with distribution plans.
  • Inventory Control: Partner with yard operators and car haul carriers to develop and execute daily lift plans, keeping ramp inventories strictly below standard targets.
  • Dwell & Aging Mitigation: Monitor daily vehicle dwell times for all VINs at assigned ramps; proactively identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to keep dwell times below target.
  • Inventory Reconciliation: Reconcile inventory flow issues and resolve vehicle aging concerns at the ramps.

Carrier Performance & Financial Stewardship

  • Performance Tracking: Monitor carrier performance against contractual agreements, driving accountability and escalating non-performing carriers to Transportation Purchasing when necessary.
  • Contract Enforcement: Manage and enforce the 10-day chargeback process for carriers aligned with updated contract terms.
  • Cost Optimization: Manage expenditures to reduce premium freight spending and ensure budget compliance. Lead or support individual and team-based Cost Savings Projects.

Data Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Network Optimization: Analyze transit data using Freight Verify and other logistics platforms to identify network bottlenecks, reduce Time In Transit (TIT), and drive network efficiencies.
  • KPI Development: Develop, maintain, and utilize tracking metrics and analytical tools to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and support data-driven decision-making.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support

  • Stakeholder Support: Serve as a primary point of contact and support requests for key business units, including Ford Pro, Lincoln, Model E, and Ford Blue.
