GENERAL SUMMARY

Sunrock Industries is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Scalehouse Operator to join our quarry operations team. This role is responsible for accurately weighing loaded trucks to ensure compliance with North Carolina Department of Transportation regulations, managing customer transactions, dispatching trucks, and supporting aggregate operations.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and able to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately weigh loaded trucks and verify compliance with DOT weight limits.
  • Confirm scale indicator is zeroed between each truck.
  • Capture and verify truck tare (empty) weights.
  • Release trucks once proper weight limits are met.
  • Distribute signed tickets to drivers/customers and collect copies for daily scanning.
  • Receive and process aggregate product orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicate regularly with customers regarding order changes, delivery schedules, and service updates.
  • Update system records and communicate changes to operations, sales, quality, and management teams.
  • Promote value-added products and services when appropriate.
  • Represent company products and services professionally and honestly.
  • Dispatch internal and contract haulers.
  • Assist Lead Aggregate Dispatcher as needed.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules based on truck capacity, route distance, unloading times, and production schedules.
  • Monitor logistics execution to ensure production and delivery goals are met.
  • Allocate aggregate materials for asphalt and concrete plant orders.
  • Plan schedules and assign work to internal and external haulers.
  • Release railcars via internet systems.
  • Manage cash drawer and reconcile funds at start/end of shift.
  • Complete daily logs, unit reports, mileage reports, and intercompany documentation.
  • Upload product tickets daily using document management software.
  • Run reports and track production using dispatch/order systems.
  • Conduct hazard awareness training for first-time visitors, contractors, and vendors.
  • Provide annual site-specific hazard training for visitors to mine/quarry property.
  • Participate in opening and closing rotations as assigned by management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid North Carolina Driverโ€™s License
  • Ability to obtain NC and/or VA Weighmaster License
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask in a busy operations environment

Preferred

  • 1โ€“2 years of customer service, dispatching, call center, logistics, or scalehouse experience
  • Experience with dispatch/order management software
  • Cash handling experience

Work Environment

  • Office and industrial yard/quarry setting
