What is Logistics SaaS?

Logistics SaaS (Software as a Service) refers to cloud-based software solutions designed to manage and optimize logistics and supply chain operations. These platforms typically offer tools for inventory management, order tracking, shipping, warehouse management, and real-time analytics. By using SaaS, companies can access the latest logistics technology without large upfront investments in hardware or software, and benefit from automatic updates and scalability. Logistics SaaS helps businesses streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve visibility across the supply chain.

How does a role in Logistics SaaS typically interact with customers and internal teams to ensure successful software implementation?

In a Logistics SaaS role, professionals often serve as a bridge between the development team, operations, and the client. They collaborate closely with customers to gather requirements, provide training, and troubleshoot issues during onboarding and ongoing use. Internally, they work with product managers, developers, and support staff to ensure that customer needs are met and that any challenges are addressed promptly. Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a customer-focused mindset are crucial for success in this dynamic, collaborative environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Logistics SaaS professional, and why are they important?

To excel as a Logistics SaaS professional, you need a strong understanding of supply chain logistics, software solutions, and business process optimization, often supported by a degree in logistics, IT, or business and relevant industry experience. Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), cloud platforms, and SaaS deployment models is essential, along with certifications like CSCP or PMP. Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and customer relationship management skills set top performers apart in this field. These competencies are critical for implementing scalable solutions, driving user adoption, and ensuring clients achieve operational efficiency through the software.

What is the difference between Logistics Saas vs Logistics Coordinator?

Work EnvironmentSoftware development, IT, and logistics tech companiesWarehouses, shipping departments, and transportation offices
Employer & IndustryLogistics tech providers, SaaS companies, supply chain firmsManufacturers, retailers, logistics service providers

Logistics Saas involves developing or managing logistics software solutions, focusing on technology and systems. In contrast, a Logistics Coordinator handles day-to-day logistics operations, coordinating shipments and inventory. While both roles are integral to supply chain management, they differ in focus, skills, and work environment.

Job description

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead end-to-end delivery of complex technology projects within the logistics and transportation domain. The role will manage cross-functional engineering teams working across cloud platforms, enterprise applications, APIs, microservices, web applications, and mobile solutions.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in project management, Agile and Kanban delivery, stakeholder management, risk and dependency management, and team coordination. The candidate should also possess sufficient technical understanding to engage effectively with teams working on AWS, Java, microservices, Kong API Gateway, React, Flutter, and mobile application ecosystems

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of logistics technology projects from planning and estimation through execution, release, and closure.
  • Define project scope, milestones, schedules, resource plans, delivery approach, and success criteria.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate backend, API, web, mobile, platform, QA, and DevOps teams working across:
    • AWS cloud environments
    • Java-based enterprise applications
    • Microservices architecture
    • Kong API Gateway
    • React-based web applications
    • Flutter-based mobile applications
  • Support delivery of logistics solutions covering shipment execution, transportation visibility, carrier workflows, tracking, exception management, and operational processes.
  • Participate in technical and architectural discussions to understand integration dependencies, delivery risks, security requirements, and release impacts.
  • Drive effective Agile, Scrum, and Kanban practices, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and delivery tracking.
  • Manage project execution through Jira, including backlog tracking, dependency management, dashboards, release status, and project reporting.
  • Partner with product owners, architects, engineering leads, QA, DevOps, UX, security, and business stakeholders to maintain delivery alignment.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations through clear status communication, risk escalation, decision tracking, and governance reviews.
  • Identify blockers and cross-team dependencies early and drive timely resolution.
  • Track project performance using metrics such as milestone adherence, velocity, cycle time, defect trends, release readiness, and dependency ageing.
  • Coordinate integrated releases across backend services, APIs, web applications, and mobile applications.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering governance, quality standards, security controls, and production-readiness expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery practices, team collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience managing enterprise technology projects in the logistics, transportation, or supply-chain domain.
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional Agile engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of project management, Agile, Scrum, and Kanban delivery practices.
  • Advanced working experience with Jira for project planning, backlog management, reporting, and governance.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and escalation-management skills.
  • Experience managing scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Good technical understanding of AWS, Java, microservices, REST APIs, and Kong API Gateway.
  • Understanding of web and mobile application delivery using React and Flutter.
  • Ability to engage in technical discussions with architects, engineering leads, API teams, mobile teams, DevOps, QA, and security stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating releases across backend, web, and mobile application teams.
  • Strong team leadership, conflict resolution, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience preparing governance reports, delivery dashboards, and project health updates.

Good to Have

  • Experience delivering Transportation Management Systems, shipment visibility, carrier management, yard management, or logistics SaaS platforms.
  • Exposure to mobile application release management and app-store deployment processes.
  • Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, containerization, ECS, and cloud-native deployment practices.
  • Experience managing application modernization, cloud migration, or API platform transformation projects.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, Scrum, or Kanban certification.
