Job description

The Logistics Planner is responsible for coordinating and executing domestic and international transportation activities, developing accurate cost estimates, and ensuring full compliance with import/export regulations. This role supports daily logistics operations at our plant by booking shipments, managing documentation, and collaborating with internal teams, customers, carriers, domestic 3PL partners and freight forwarders to ensure on time, cost effective delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and book domestic TL (Truckload), Specialized Equipment, and PTL (Partial Truckload) shipments.
  • Measure equipment to ship & determine required equipment.
  • Support and facilitate domestic milk-runs and pool points.
  • Coordinate international air and ocean shipments, including communication with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
  • Monitor import & domestic shipment status, proactively resolve delays, and provide updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Optimize routing, carrier selection, and mode of transport to balance cost and service.
  • Prepare accurate transportation cost estimates for domestic and international shipments.
  • Analyze freight rates, accessorial charges, and carrier performance to support costsaving initiatives.
  • Prepare, review, and manage all export documentation, including:
    • Commercial invoices
    • Packing lists
    • Bills of lading
    • Certificates of origin
    • AES filings
    • Customs declarations
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs, EAR/ITAR, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory reporting.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Production teams to align logistics activities with business needs.
  • Communicate shipment requirements and timelines to internal and external partners.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in logistics processes and systems.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in logistics, transportation planning, or supply chain operations.
  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with HTS classification, Incoterms, and export compliance preferred.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills to interpret data and support decisions.
  • Knowledge of domestic TL/PTL/LTL and international freight processes.
  • Experience preparing import/export documentation and working with customs brokers or freight forwarders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to create accurate cost estimates.
  • Problem Solving: Recognize cost, optimization and service issues when they arise and bring solutions.
  • Experience working with a significant number of carriers simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with TMS systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Target Salary Range: $55,000 – $75,000 salary a year.  Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, geographic location, and business and organizational needs.  Full-time positions are eligible for competitive benefits, including paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, disability benefits and 401(k).
