Job Overview

The Elevated Selling Operations Assistant Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing the operational functions that support Bloomingdale's luxury Personal Shopping and Elevated Shopping businesses. This role serves as the operational leader for client experience execution, merchandise logistics, hospitality, fulfillment, and operational process management, ensuring the seamless delivery of a world-class luxury shopping experience

The Operations Assistant Manager partners closely with Personal Shoppers, Stylists, Business Development Managers, Store Leadership, and cross-functional business partners to drive operational excellence, establish best practices, identify efficiencies, and ensure consistent execution of luxury service standards. This role oversees daily operational workflows, allocates resources, manages operational priorities, and serves as a key liaison between selling and support teams.

Essential Functions

Operational Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Lead and coordinate the daily operational activities supporting the Personal Shopping and Elevated Shopping businesses.
  • Provide direction, training, coaching, and workflow prioritization to Operations Assistants and support staff.
  • Establish operational standards, monitor execution, and ensure accountability across all service and fulfillment functions.
  • Develop scheduling and workload allocation strategies to support business volume and client demand.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for operational issues impacting the client experience.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance development of operational team members.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and luxury service excellence.
  • Establish and enforce operational controls, compliance standards, inventory accountability practices, and risk mitigation procedures that protect company assets and support business integrity.
  • Drive operational strategies that enable revenue growth, increase seller capacity, enhance client retention, and support scalable growth of the Elevated Shopping business.

Client Experience & Hospitality Operations

  • Oversee preparation and execution of all Personal Shopping appointments to ensure luxury presentation and service standards are consistently met.
  • Direct hospitality planning and execution for client appointments, events, and VIP experiences.
  • Partner with Concierge and selling teams to anticipate client needs and proactively address operational requirements.
  • Monitor appointment readiness and service execution to ensure a seamless end-to-end client journey.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the luxury client experience through operational innovation and process improvements.

Fulfillment, Logistics & Delivery Management

  • Oversee shipping, delivery, messenger, and courier operations for Personal Shopping clients.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of client purchases, returns, marketplace transactions, and specialized deliveries.
  • Manage relationships and coordination with shipping, courier, and third-party service providers.
  • Monitor shipment performance, delivery outcomes, and service-level agreements.
  • Develop and implement process improvements that increase fulfillment efficiency, accuracy, and speed.

Merchandise & Inventory Operations

  • Oversee merchandise flow supporting Personal Shopping appointments, events, trunk shows, residencies, and pop-up experiences.
  • Ensure proper controls and accountability for merchandise holds, transfers, high-value inventory, and secure product movement.
  • Partner with Asset Protection and Store Operations to mitigate risk and maintain inventory integrity.
  • Monitor merchandise preparation standards and ensure all products are client-ready.
  • Analyze operational challenges and implement solutions to improve merchandise handling and readiness.

Operational Excellence & Business Management

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain operational procedures and best practices for the Elevated Shopping business.
  • Analyze operational metrics and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Manage inventory levels for operational, hospitality, and packaging supplies.
  • Oversee operational budgets associated with supplies, hospitality, shipping, and client experience initiatives.
  • Ensure organization, cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards across all operational spaces.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that support business growth and seller productivity.

Event & Special Program Management

  • Lead operational planning and execution for client events, designer residencies, trunk shows, and promotional activations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional logistics, merchandise movement, hospitality, staffing, and setup requirements.
  • Ensure operational readiness and successful execution of elevated client experiences and special events.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with Business Development Managers to support strategic client initiatives and business goals.
  • Collaborate with Store Leadership, Asset Protection, Studio Services, Visual, and Operations teams to execute priorities.
  • Act as the operational liaison between selling teams and store support functions.
  • Communicate key operational performance updates, risks, and opportunities to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Strong operational leadership and project management experience.

  • Experience managing operational workflows and process improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of luxury clienteling, high-touch service environments, and VIP client experiences.
  • Experience analyzing operational metrics and business performance indicators.
