Logistics Manager
Location: Lawrenceville GA
Fleet Size: 35 Drivers (Dedicated Operation)
Overview
PTG Logistics is seeking a hands-on On-Site Transportation Manager to lead day-to-day operations for a dedicated fleet of 35 drivers in Newnan, GA. This role combines driver management, load planning, customer service, and backhaul development to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation operations.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can develop drivers, maintain customer relationships, and actively build revenue-generating backhauls using broker boards and market relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Driver Leadership & Retention
  • Develop and maintain a high-performing driver team through daily engagement, coaching, and accountability
  • Ensure driver satisfaction by managing mileage expectations, accurate payroll, and timely issue resolution
  • Document performance, including coaching, attendance, service, and recognition

Planning & Dispatch
  • Match drivers with loads while managing schedules, special instructions, and service commitments
  • Maximize fleet utilization through efficient routing and trip planning
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with drivers and customers

Backhaul Development (Key Focus)
  • Actively source and secure revenue-generating backhauls using broker boards
  • Build relationships with brokers and suppliers in key markets
  • Identify consistent lanes and opportunities to reduce deadhead and improve profitability

Safety & Compliance
  • Lead safety initiatives through coaching, communication, and accountability
  • Ensure compliance with DOT Hours of Service and FMCSA regulations
  • Conduct daily HOS audits, manage driver qualification files, and track CDL/medical certifications
  • Oversee accident reporting and progressive discipline when necessary

Customer Operations & Communication
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for customer operations
  • Build strong, transparent relationships with customer teams
  • Provide proactive updates on delays, service issues, and daily operational performance
  • Learn and integrate customer systems and processes to improve efficiency

Equipment & Maintenance
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance with Penske and monitor equipment condition
  • Perform regular inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and readiness

Reporting & Administration
  • Track and report key metrics including:
    • Delays and service performance
    • Backhaul activity
  • Process payroll and HR documentation (raises, bonuses, PAFs, etc.)
  • Utilize systems such as Motive, BOLT, Samba/CSA, Asurint, and Tenstreet

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in transportation, driver management, or load planning
  • Proven experience booking backhauls through broker boards strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of DOT, HOS, and FMCSA regulations
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Class A CDL (preferred but not required)
