Job description

Job Type Full-time; paid apprenticeship with opportunities for overtime and future ownership equity Summary Lee Construction is seeking a reliable, intelligent, and hardworking Construction Apprentice to support a licensed contractor with residential construction projects. This role is a hands-on paid apprenticeship designed to teach all phases of residential construction, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, concrete, and low-voltage/network cabling. The ideal candidate is a team player who can both perform physical work and lead small crews as they grow into greater responsibility. Key Responsibilities Support the Contractor directly to extend and save their time across tasks. Perform general labor and skilled-assist work on residential construction sites. Assist tradespeople with carpentry, electrical, plumbing, concrete, and low-voltage tasks. Safely operate power tools and light equipment including drills, saws, and jackhammers. Lead small crews when assigned and coordinate daily work to meet project goals. Anticipate next-day needs and prepare materials, tools, and mission-critical spares. Maintain, organize, and secure tools, equipment, and job sites; leave sites clean and hazard-free. Communicate clearly and promptly about potential issues, delays, or safety concerns. Run errands as needed, including material pickup and site logistics. Learn progressively to manage projects independently and take on ownership opportunities. Required Qualifications Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel to job sites in Pasadena, Redlands, Laguna Beach, and surrounding areas; gas reimbursement provided. Experience with basic power tools and proficiency in at least one trade or construction skill. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new technical skills quickly (including low-voltage/network cable termination). Excellent communication skills and a dependable, team-oriented attitude. English may be second language and Contractor speaks Spanish. Ability to follow a chain of command and work professionally under criticism or pressure. If you could never handle a military boot camp, do not apply. Veterans encouraged. Willingness to accept hands-on training and mentorship from an experienced contractor. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and periodic testing; heavy alcohol use is not compatible with this role. Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly. Comfortable working on your feet for long periods in varied and sometimes tough outdoor conditions. Able to stay hydrated and maintain physical stamina on demanding job sites. Desired Attributes High intelligence and problem-solving ability—everything else can and would be taught. Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented. Strong work ethic and never quit resilience with mission focus. Leadership potential and desire to grow into project management and ownership roles. Compensation and Benefits Competitive hourly pay with overtime opportunities. Paid apprenticeship training with on-the-job mentorship from a licensed contractor since 1991. Potential for generous ownership equity in future projects and unlimited long-term earning potential for high performers.
