Job description

Company:

David creates tools to increase muscle and decrease fat. Our first product is a protein bar. More broadly, David is a platform to develop high-protein, low-calorie, blood-sugar-friendly foods that are craveable.

This is a rare opportunity to join a breakout food brand at a pivotal stage of growth. Led by CEO Peter Rahal, Cofounder and Former CEO of RXBAR, David is working to become the leading consumer food brand focused on high-protein foods in North America and beyond.

Role & Responsibilities:

The Logistics team owns the operational execution of David's logistics network. This is a high-ownership role responsible for managing carrier and partner relationships, driving freight performance, and ensuring product moves efficiently and cost-effectively across the network. You will work cross-functionally to manage the execution of our logistics operations and use data and reporting to continuously improve it, surfacing the right insights at the right time to make better execution decisions.

Freight Operations Management

  • Oversee inbound and outbound freight execution across FTL and LTL
  • Identify and resolve shipment exceptions, delays, and routing issues before they create downstream problems
  • Ensure freight execution supports seamless handoffs across suppliers, warehouses, and manufacturing partners
  • Partner with fulfillment and supply chain teams to coordinate logistics around inventory flow and order priorities

Operational Reporting & Performance Visibility

  • Develop and maintain the dashboards, trackers, and reports that give leadership real-time visibility into freight performance, transit times, and cost trends
  • Continuously improve on intercompany OTIF, freight cost per unit, carrier scorecards, exception rates, tracking improvement and expanding our understanding
  • Surface emerging risks and inefficiencies before they become operational problems
  • Translate performance data into clear recommendations and follow through on the corrective actions that come from them

Carrier & Partner Execution

  • Manage relationships with freight carriers and coordinate across logistics handoff points with suppliers, warehouses, and manufacturers, holding partners accountable to service, cost, and reliability expectations
  • Ensure appointment scheduling and pickup coordination happen correctly across intercompany logistics (ingredients, transfers, and manufacturing shipments), building the processes and standards that partners follow to book and execute on time
  • Build the processes and automations that ensure perfect logistics documentation across our entire supply chain
  • Conduct regular carrier reviews and performance conversations, escalating or making changes when partners fall short
  • Lead carrier RFPs and rate negotiations backed by data on David's volume, lanes, and priorities

Process Improvement & Special Projects

  • Own process improvement initiatives, from identifying the gap to designing and implementing the fix
  • Build tools, automations, and workflows that reduce manual work and improve accuracy across the logistics function
  • Support systems projects such as TMS evaluation and improvement, EDI improvements, and 3PL onboarding
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, retail operations, and supply chain on initiatives where logistics execution is critical

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in logistics, freight operations, supply chain, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience managing carrier relationships - you know how to hold partners accountable
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort building operational reports and trackers that the team actually uses
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with BI tools a plus
  • ERP, WMS, and TMS experience a plus
  • Familiarity with freight modes (FTL, LTL), carrier operations, and logistics cost structures
  • Self-directed and proactive - you resolve problems without waiting to be asked
  • High standards for follow-through and a low tolerance for things falling through the cracks
  • Interest in building a brand with a mission to increase muscle and decrease fat

Benefits

Compensation includes:

  • Salary: $100,000 - $180,000 per year DOE, inclusive of cash bonus based on attainment of company targets
  • Company equity opportunity
  • 100% covered Health, Vision, Dental Insurance
  • 401(k) with 4% company match
  • Additional perks such as fully covered gym expenses
  • Substantial and required PTO
