GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Logistics Manager plans, organizes and directs the operation specialty hauling operation to meet the needs of the customer, achieve the annual business plan, increase sales to third party customers, and maximize profitability for the Company.

The Logistics Manager provides leadership for daily operations while also driving strategic growth, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the business. The Logistics Manager builds a highly engaged, performance-driven team and collaborates across business units to align operations with organizational goals.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business or Engineering discipline with a minimum of five (5) years operations/logistics management experience in shipping/heavy haul industry and business development experience with industry relationships within specialized hauling market.
  • Experience with DOT regulations for permitting over dimension, overweight loads and driver hours of service/logs.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP).

DIMENSIONS (SALES VOLUME, TOTAL EMPLOYEES REPORTING, PAYROLL, ETC.):

  • Annual Revenue exceeding $20M.
  • Staffing level of approximately 50-80 personnel.
  • Strategic asset management of a fleet of trucks and trailers valued at approximately $15M.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Logistics Manager is accountable to the Vice President, Managing Director of High Transit. Reporting to the Logistics Manager are the Logistics Supervisors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Fundamental job requirements an individual must be able to perform in order to accomplish the basic duties of the job.

  • Manages over-the-road operations performed by High Transit, LLC.
  • Creates engagement with teams of professional over-the-road truck drivers.
  • Financial management of shipping projects, including both establishing estimating parameters and processes, and maintaining forecast of final cost at completion
  • Evaluates market trends, customer needs, and competitive conditions to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Engage in the selling process and improve the profitability and consistency of third-party sales. in the investigation, development and coordination of revenue producing opportunities for the High Transit, LLC fleet.
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates across multiple High-affiliated business units and internal High Transit departments, building strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Responsible for creating department expense budgets and successfully managing expenses to stay within fixed budgets and/or budgets that are flexed on operational variables.
  • Competent to read key elements of financial statements in support of functional role responsibilities.
  • Maintains accurate projections of actual cost at completion during a long-running project. Develops shipping plans in accordance with the estimated cost parameters and when necessary, advises Estimating of requirements to increase/decrease costs due to changes in rules and/or regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring safe operations as well as compliance with all OSHA regulations, all applicable laws, and High Industries’ Corporate Policies.
  • Effectively train, supervise, coach and evaluate all direct reports utilizing performance planning, monthly one-on-ones and participative management to foster good communications and morale.
  • Responsible for assessing team capabilities and implementing development, succession, and staffing strategies to ensure alignment of talent with business needs and overall team effectiveness.
  • Responsible for effective implementation of quality system components including procedural training, quarterly internal audits, annual employee qualification assessments, and monthly statistical analysis.
  • Reviews operational key performance measures monthly as well as benchmarking data to drive any required correctional or improvement strategies.
  • Responsible for development of Annual Operations Budget/Capital Plan as well as the Annual Update to the Operations Strategic Planning process including conceptualization, plan development and implementation.
  • Responsible for ongoing Process Analysis of Operational systems, procedures, and staffing to drive continuous improvement in operating efficiencies.
  • Support the Policy Deployment and Continuous Improvement Process.
