What You Will Be Doing:

The YES Logistics Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company's enterprise-wide logistics strategy across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role ensures the efficient movement of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), finished goods, and oversized fabricated assemblies between production sites, laydown yards, and to customers.

The YES Logistics Manager is a key leader in supporting operational scalability by optimizing internal and contract transportation networks, reducing logistics costs, improving delivery performance, and ensuring seamless coordination between manufacturing plants. The position plays a critical role in maintaining production flow through extensive interplant transportation while supporting customer commitments within the data center and critical infrastructure markets.

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the YES Logistics Manager partners closely with Plant Managers, Supply Chain, Production Planning, Procurement, Engineering, Sales, and Quality to build a world-class logistics operation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise Logistics Strategy
    • Develop and execute the enterprise logistics strategy supporting multiple manufacturing facilities.
    • Design and optimize transportation networks for raw materials, fabricated components, WIP, and finished products.
    • Create scalable logistics processes capable of supporting rapid company growth and increased production capacity.
    • Standardize logistics procedures across all manufacturing locations.
  • Interplant Transportation Management
    • Manage daily movement of WIP and finished generator enclosures between manufacturing facilities.
    • Optimize interplant shuttle schedules to maximize production flow while minimizing transportation costs.
    • Coordinate oversized and specialized freight movements requiring permits or escort services.
    • Ensure transportation capacity aligns with production schedules.
    • Develop contingency plans to minimize production disruptions caused by transportation delays.
  • Carrier Management
    • Develop a strong internal carrier group to support our growing enterprise.
    • Develop strategic relationships with contract transportation providers.
    • Negotiate freight contracts and transportation agreements.
    • Measure carrier performance using KPIs including:
    • On-time pickup
    • On-time delivery
    • Damage rates
    • Cost per mile
    • Cost per unit shipped
    • Develop alternative carrier networks to reduce operational risk.
  • Logistics Planning & Scheduling
    • Collaborate with Production Planning and Scheduling teams to ensure transportation supports manufacturing priorities.
    • Balance transportation capacity across multiple plants.
    • Coordinate expedited shipments when necessary while minimizing premium freight expense.
    • Lead enterprise transportation planning meetings.
  • Inventory Flow Optimization
    • Improve material flow between facilities.
    • Minimize transportation-related inventory delays.
    • Reduce WIP dwell time across manufacturing sites.
    • Improve overall manufacturing velocity through optimized logistics execution.
  • Cost Management
    • Develop and manage enterprise logistics budgets.
    • Identify transportation cost reduction opportunities.
    • Optimize route utilization and freight consolidation.
    • Reduce premium freight expense through improved planning.

  • Continuous Improvement
    • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to logistics operations.
    • Eliminate waste throughout transportation processes.
    • Improve trailer utilization and loading efficiency.
    • Standardize shipping documentation and logistics workflows.
    • Lead cross-functional logistics improvement initiatives.
  • Systems & Analytics
    • Utilize ERP, TMS, and WMS systems to manage transportation activities.
    • Develop logistics dashboards and KPI reporting.
    • Analyze transportation trends and identify improvement opportunities.
    • Support implementation of transportation technology solutions.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and transportation laws.
    • Maintain compliance with oversized load permitting requirements.
    • Ensure carrier safety standards meet company expectations.
    • Support OSHA and company safety initiatives.
  • Leadership Responsibilities
    • Lead enterprise logistics coordinators and transportation personnel.
    • Establish logistics standards across all facilities.
    • Develop logistics training programs.
    • Mentor team members for succession planning.
    • Foster strong collaboration between operations, planning, procurement, and transportation.

Who We Are Looking For:

To be successful in this position you should be organized and have effective decision-making skills. You should possess a strong leadership skills and maintain a deep understanding of production and operational processes. The ability to work in a team environment is essential to this position as well.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field.

  • 8+ years of progressive logistics or supply chain leadership experience.

  • 5+ years managing logistics in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with oversized freight, fabricated steel products, or industrial equipment transportation.
  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations, freight management, and carrier negotiations.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as D365, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Epicor.

  • Advanced Excel and logistics analytics skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt

  • Transportation Management System (TMS) implementation experience
  • Experience supporting engineered-to-order manufacturing serving mission-critical industries such as data centers, healthcare, power generation, or industrial infrastructure
