A log buyer works in the timber or forestry industry to negotiate log prices, build and maintain relationships with log suppliers to encourage continued procurement. As a log buyer, you sell excess logs or lumber created from those logs, oversee the delivery of the wood both to your site and from your site to vendors, and manage inventory. Other responsibilities include representing the company at trade events, visiting suppliers and producers, and understanding the laws and regulations regarding lumber and forestry in your state, as well as current and future markets and trends.
