Job description

University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus (Topeka, KS) is seeking a Board-Certified Cardiologist to provide ongoing locum tenens coverage starting January 1, 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected program with a long-term need, flexible scheduling, and compensation open to premium rates for the right candidate.

Position Overview
  • Specialty: General Cardiology

  • Setting: Inpatient + Outpatient (both required)

  • Start Date: January 1, 2026

  • Commitment: 1 week per month (ongoing)

  • Call:

    • Weekdays: 5pm 7am

    • Weekends & Holidays: 24-hour call

    • Night and weekend call required

    • 30-minute in-person response

    • 5 10 minute phone response

  • Open to Licensing: Yes candidates without a KS license are welcome to apply

  • Premium Rates: Client is open to premium/market-leading compensation

  • Privileges Required: Inpatient + outpatient, admissions

  • Practice Setting: Epic EMR, 387-bed hospital

Clinical Scope

You will:

  • Provide inpatient rounding, consults & weekend/holiday hospital coverage

  • See patients in the Heart & Vascular Center office (Mon Fri, 8a 5p as needed)

  • Participate in general cardiology call (beeper)

  • Expect 10 patients per shift

  • Work alongside dedicated RNs, MAs, and APP support staff (no supervision required)

Required Skills
  • Board Certified in Cardiology

  • ACLS/BLS

  • Comfortable with both outpatient and inpatient Cardiology

  • Admissions + phone consults + call-back patient care
