Job description

Jackson and Coker is seeking a GI Hospitalist for locum tenens coverage in Southwest Florida, near Tampa, starting mid-August. This full-time inpatient role involves managing a high volume of patients and procedures daily within a 475+ bed hospital. The position offers an opportunity to work alongside Advanced GIs, focusing exclusively on inpatient care.

Practice Info

  • 100% inpatient GI hospitalist coverage need (no outpatient)
  • Anticipate seeing an average of 20-25 patients per day
  • Anticipate 5-6 procedures/day
  • Will be covering the ED and doing 100% inpatient work
  • Will work alongside of Advanced GIs that cover all ERCP, EUS & Stents
  • Facility is a 475+ bed full service hospital but the hospital is a transfer facility (May receive cases from other smaller facilities within same health system)

  • Daily patient rounding
  • Emergent procedures
  • New consults

Shift & Schedule

  • Starting in mid August & ongoing
  • Current focus to fill 1-2 more weeks between August 17 & September 14
  • Possibility of adding 1-2 more weeks through the end of the year in 2026 & up to a week per month in 2027
  • Monday at 7AM - Monday at 7AM coverage
  • 24-hour call coverage (in addition to working a minimum of 8-hours each day in the hospital) is being discussed and determined soon

  • Active Florida + DEA license required
  • Active Board Certification
  • Easy to credential backgrounds
  • Local candidates prioritized to reduce travel costs
  • Will need to attend a full Epic EMR training if not confident in testing out
