Nocturnist Gastroenterology Hospitalist Position

Role: Full-Time Nocturnist Gastroenterology Hospitalist
Location: Arlington, VA (DC Metro Area)

Our organization is on the lookout for a Board-Certified Gastroenterology Hospitalist to enhance our expanding, patient-focused program at our primary hospital facility in Arlington, Virginia, a prominent medical center in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

This role is perfect for Gastroenterologists who are interested in a specialized overnight inpatient position, delivering high-quality GI care while enjoying a well-structured schedule.

Opportunity Highlights
  • Full-time nocturnist role within a respected, award-winning healthcare system.

  • Focused inpatient GI hospitalist position emphasizing consultations, urgent procedures, and acute care management.

Schedule
  • 7-on / 7-off block schedule.

  • Weekday shift hours: 5:00 PM - 7:00 AM (on-call, available for urgent procedures or in-house consultations).

  • Weekend shift hours: 5:00 PM Friday - 7:00 AM Monday (on-call coverage, available for inpatient consultations and procedures).

Position Responsibilities
  • Deliver overnight inpatient gastroenterology services.

  • Manage acute GI conditions and other urgent/emergent cases.

  • Work closely with Emergency Medicine, ICU, and Hospitalist teams.

  • Ensure timely documentation and structured handoffs to daytime GI physicians.

  • Engage in quality improvement, compliance, and risk management initiatives.

  • Support our mission to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.

Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical institution.

  • Completion of a Gastroenterology fellowship.

  • Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Gastroenterology.

  • Experience in inpatient GI and endoscopy is preferred (new graduates with strong training are encouraged to apply).

  • Eligible for or licensed by the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
