Locum APP Opportunity Trauma Surgery / Critical Care

San Francisco

Start Date: August 4

Assignment Length: 26 Weeks


A high-volume Level 1 trauma center in the Bay Area is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) for a locum assignment supporting trauma and critical care services across the ED, inpatient floor, and ICU settings.


Position Highlights
  • Busiest trauma center in the Bay Area
  • APP will provide care for critically ill and injured patients throughout the continuum of care
  • Collaborative environment with residents and multidisciplinary teams
  • Exposure to trauma, emergency, ICU, neurosurgery, orthopedic, and critical care patients
Patient Volume
  • 2025 patients per day shared with resident team on the floor
  • 512 trauma activations daily
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and manage trauma and emergency patients
  • Care for critically ill patients from ED through ICU and inpatient units
  • Assist with trauma activations and acute stabilization
  • Manage complex medical and surgical conditions including:
    • Shock
    • Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
    • Stroke
    • Neurosurgical conditions
    • Orthopedic trauma
Required Qualifications
  • Active California license at time of submission
  • California DEA required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of trauma experience required OR ICU experience!!
  • Comfortable working with trauma and ED patients
Preferred Qualifications
  • Level 1 trauma experience strongly preferred / ICU experience highly preferred
  • Experience with:
    • Arterial lines
    • Central lines
    • Chest tubes
  • Background in neurosurgery, ICU, emergency medicine, or orthopedics considered
  • ATLS preferred
