Job description

Assignment Length: Ongoing coverage need

Start Date:  August 31

Openings: 1

Reason for Coverage: Long-term permanent search

Practice Setting: 

  • Inpatient and OR coverage
  • Average 7 PPD with 1 admission and 1 case
  • Practice includes 3 Surgeons
  • Level III trauma center

Schedule:

          • Monday-Friday, 8:00a-5:00p
          • No weekends or call required

Patient Population: Adult (99%), Pediatrics (1%)

EMR: EPIC

Credentialing: 90 days

Requirements:

  • Active Washington licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 1-year General Surgery experience or equivalent

Travel Benefits:

If you reside greater than 50 miles from the facility you are eligible for travel benefits. You will have your travel and lodging arranged by our travel department and paid for in full.

Job Responsibilities (Generalized):

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly

Skills:

  • Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
  • Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions

Education Requirements:

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Washington
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])
  • Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Washington
  • National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Experience:

  • While specific requirements may vary, most locum APP positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty
