What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Localization Project Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Localization Project Manager, you need strong project management skills, fluency in at least one foreign language, and knowledge of localization processes, often supported by a degree in linguistics, translation, or a related field. Familiarity with translation management systems (TMS), CAT tools, and quality assurance software is typically required. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities are crucial for coordinating teams and managing client expectations. These competencies ensure efficient project delivery, high-quality localized content, and successful cross-cultural communication.

What are some typical challenges a Localization Project Manager faces when coordinating multilingual projects?

A Localization Project Manager often encounters challenges such as managing tight deadlines across multiple time zones, ensuring consistent quality and terminology across languages, and aligning expectations between clients, translators, and internal teams. Communication is key, as the role requires bridging cultural and linguistic gaps while monitoring progress on several projects simultaneously. Effective use of localization tools, clear workflows, and strong collaboration skills are essential to overcoming these challenges and delivering projects on time and within budget.

What are Localization Project Managers?

Localization Project Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the adaptation of products, content, or services to meet the language and cultural requirements of different markets. They coordinate teams of translators, editors, and technical specialists to ensure that localization projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the desired quality standards. Their role also involves managing project timelines, budgets, communication between stakeholders, and quality assurance processes throughout the localization lifecycle.

What is the difference between Localization Project Manager vs Localization Specialist?

AspectLocalization Project ManagerLocalization Specialist
CredentialsTypically requires project management experience, certifications like PMP, and knowledge of localization toolsRequires language proficiency, translation experience, and familiarity with localization software
Work EnvironmentManages multiple projects, coordinates teams, and oversees timelinesFocuses on translation, editing, and linguistic quality
Employer & Industry UsageUsed in global companies, localization agencies, and tech firmsCommon in translation agencies, in-house localization teams, and freelance work

The main difference is that a Localization Project Manager oversees the entire localization process, managing teams and timelines, while a Localization Specialist focuses on linguistic tasks like translation and editing. Both roles are essential in the localization industry but serve different functions.

Job description

About Fluidstack
We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.
We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.
We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!
About the Role
As an Architect on the Data Center Design team, you will drive the development of next-generation data center facilities by merging deep expertise in building codes, fire and life safety, and 3D design with Fluidstack's obsession for speed and performance. You will own the architectural scope across our portfolio - ensuring that every facility we bring online is safe, compliant, optimized for density, and ready to support the most demanding AI compute workloads on the planet.
This is not a conventional architectural role. You will work alongside mechanical, electrical, structural, and controls engineers to shape facilities that are pushing the boundaries of what data centers can be. You will translate complex design requirements into executable plans, manage external AEC vendors, and serve as the primary escalation point for site-specific localization challenges across our US portfolio.
You are a visionary who optimizes for efficiency and never stops seeking improvements - from code compliance to space utilization to material flow. You generate ideas, communicate them clearly to senior stakeholders, and drive implementation alongside construction and facilities teams.
Responsibilities
  • Lead architectural design development for new data center builds and retrofits across Fluidstack's global portfolio, from conceptual design through construction documentation and site handover.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, security, and construction teams to integrate architectural scope into broader system designs - ensuring building code compliance, fire/life safety, and operational performance at every stage.
  • Rationalise requirements with internal operations and engineering teams to define and continuously improve Fluidstack's next-generation data center design standards.
  • Conduct internal and external design reviews validating code compliance, space planning, people and material circulation, headcount modeling, and alignment with Fluidstack's canonical design standards.
  • Review construction-level drawings and specifications from internal teams and external AEC vendors, ensuring alignment with architectural program standards and Fluidstack's basis of design.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for site localization - applying engineering judgement to adapt standard designs to meet specific local codes, site constraints, and operational feedback.
  • Manage external Architecture and Engineering vendors across design phases, ensuring quality, schedule adherence, and alignment with Fluidstack requirements.
  • Use Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud to produce, coordinate, and review design documentation; leverage Python and Dynamo scripting to automate repetitive design tasks and improve team velocity.
  • Summarize technical architectural concepts into clear communications for senior leadership, construction partners, and global stakeholders across digital mediums.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent discipline
  • 5+ years of experience on industrial or data center projects within an AEC environment.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud for design coordination, life safety review, and architectural documentation.
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes, fire and life safety requirements, and data center construction standards.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent design workstreams across internal and external teams, with excellent time management under shifting priorities and international deadlines.
  • Clear, confident communicator - able to present technical design decisions to senior leadership and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Architecture, Civil, Structural, or Chartered Engineering.
  • 3+ years as a Licensed Architect with NCARB certification and demonstrated ownership of multi-phased data center or mission-critical projects.
  • Experience managing external AEC vendors specifically for hyperscale or high-density data center design programs.
  • Working knowledge of Python and Dynamo for design automation within Revit workflows.
  • Exposure to AI infrastructure facilities, GPU compute density requirements, or rapidly scaled data center build programs.
  • NCARB certification (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards) or equivalent licensure.
Benefits
  • Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity).
  • Retirement or pension plan, in line with local norms.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous PTO policy, in line with local norms.

The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This range represents our good faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. Total compensation may also include equity in the form of stock options.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
