Job Description

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Product Program Manager, Localization to support Turnitin's global expansion. You will be responsible for transforming our localization program into a comprehensive strategic approach, ensuring our products, content, and experiences are seamlessly localized and culturally relevant for our international users.ย  You will manage multiple product and program roadmaps with minimal supervision. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and UX teams to establish and execute localization strategies, optimize workflows, and maintain exceptional quality standards across all Turnitin offerings. You will collaborate across Product and other teams to improve product quality and operations. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the user experience for millions globally, enabling them to engage with our products in a way that feels inherently local.ย  The ideal candidate is an adaptable, data-driven self-starter who effectively identifies and closes product or program operational gaps with minimal support.ย 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Localization Program Strategy & Execution: Define, develop, and execute Turnitin's end-to-end localization strategy in alignment with company objectives. This includes setting success metrics, reporting on progress to leadership, and establishing best practices for scaling localization. Manage project planning cycles, define processes, coordinate stakeholders, and oversee localization workflows from initiation to launch, all while minimizing risks and blockers.
  • Global User Experience & Quality: Act as an advocate for global users, ensuring international perspectives in our program outcomes. Establish and ensure high-quality localization standards, linguistic validation, and bug management.
  • Language Asset Governance: Update and maintain documentation for product or program developments. Build and scale key asset usage including glossaries, style guides, and AI-ready datasets to support consistent, inclusive brand experiences.
  • Operational & Vendor Management: Identify and close product or program operational gaps with minimal support. Oversee vendor evaluations, ensure accurate budget tracking, and manage third-party localization vendor quality.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate across Product and other teams (including technology, marketing, and UX) to organize and facilitate data-driven change management.
  • Process Improvement: Serve as a change agent centered on consultation around process and continuous improvement, optimizing workflows from initiation through post-launch.
Qualifications

Essential

  • 8+ years of related experience in program, project management, and/or localization.
  • Localization Strategy: Demonstrated experience in crafting localization strategy and leading cross-functional initiatives to launch successful localized products.
  • Vendor Management: Experience collaborating with and managing localization and linguistics vendors to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Translation Management Systems (TMS), Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, machine translation, and content management systems.
  • Program Mastery: Mastery of at least one product line or program AND multiple product functions (e.g., quality, communication, operations).ย  Strong operational, organizational, and project management abilities, including experience building and scaling processes from the ground up, and navigating ambiguity and dependencies in an agile environment.
  • Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English; ability to influence stakeholders and present plans to diverse audiences.ย  Experience working in a highly cross-functional setting, driving results across various teams and time zones.

Desirable

  • Thorough understanding of internationalization (i18n) and globalization (g11n) concepts and standards such as Unicode and CLDR.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI tools, machine translation (NMT), or LLMs to improve localization workflows.
  • Familiarity with Agile development workflows, including Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience with localization programs or project management with educational institutions and/or in the EdTech industry.
  • Master's degree in Localization, Linguistics, International Studies, Computer Science, or related field.
