Job description

Your opportunity

At Charles Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

We are hiring a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead execution across the Crypto Custody, Blockchain Integration, and Tokenization program—while owning and operationalizing the AI‑centric Development Life Cycle (AI‑DLC) across the program.

This role is accountable not only for what gets delivered, but how work gets done—ensuring crypto platforms are built using GenAI‑enabled, agent‑driven engineering practices that improve speed, clarity, and quality without compromising institutional rigor.

This is not a traditional project management or status‑tracking role. The TPM acts as the execution architect, embedding AI‑DLC principles into planning, design, delivery, risk management, and communication across a highly regulated, high‑risk domain.

What This TPM Will Do

Program Execution & Cross‑Team Orchestration

  • Own end‑to‑end execution of the Crypto Custody, Blockchain, and Tokenization roadmap.
  • Coordinate delivery across:
    • Crypto Custody engineering
    • Blockchain platform teams
    • Crypto Security and Platform SRE
    • Enterprise Risk, Security, Legal, Compliance, and Operations
  • Manage dependencies across engineering and non‑engineering stakeholders with clarity and urgency.
  • Translate strategic objectives into executable, sequenced delivery plans.

AI‑Centric Development Life Cycle (Primary Accountability)

  • Serve as the steward and enabler of AI‑DLC for the Crypto program.
  • Ensure teams operate with:
    • AI‑assisted planning and decomposition
    • AI‑augmented design, documentation, and reviews
    • Agent‑assisted dependency tracking and risk surfacing
  • Embed expectations that GenAI is the default delivery accelerator, not an exception.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to:
    • Reduce manual overhead
    • Shorten feedback loops
    • Improve execution predictability
  • Actively identify where AI can further simplify, accelerate, or de‑risk delivery workflows.

Technical Fluency & Execution Leadership

  • Maintain sufficient technical depth to understand:
    • Crypto custody architectures and workflows
    • Blockchain integration and tokenization dependencies
    • Security, DR, and incident‑readiness requirements
  • Ask the right technical questions at the right time.
  • Ensure delivery plans reflect true technical complexity—not optimistic assumptions.
  • Help engineering leaders stay focused by absorbing cross‑team coordination complexity.

Risk, Readiness & Governance Management

  • Proactively surface and manage:
    • Technical and delivery risks
    • Security and regulatory readiness gaps
    • Dependency and sequencing issues
  • Ensure architecture, security, risk, and readiness reviews occur early and intentionally.
  • Drive clarity on:
    • Go‑live criteria
    • Cutover and rollback plans
    • Operational readiness checkpoints
  • Partner with SRE and Custody Leads to align delivery with institutional reliability expectations.

Operating Cadence & Executive Communication

  • Establish and run a disciplined operating cadence across the Crypto program.
  • Produce executive‑ready updates focused on:
    • Outcomes and progress
    • Risks and mitigations
    • Decisions required
  • Use AI‑assisted tooling to improve signal quality while reducing reporting overhead.
  • Ensure leadership always has a clear, accurate, decision‑oriented view of the program.
What you have

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in technical program or project management in complex platform environments.
  • Proven experience leading execution across high‑risk, regulated, or security‑sensitive systems.
  • Strong ability to operate in ambiguity while maintaining delivery discipline.
  • Demonstrated comfort working with senior engineers, architects, and executives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience with AI‑assisted or AI‑led delivery models.
  • Prior exposure to crypto custody, blockchain, or financial services platforms.
  • Experience coordinating with security, risk, or regulatory stakeholders.
  • Strong systems thinking—connecting technology, process, risk, and outcomes.
  • Comfort influencing without authority.

What Success Looks Like

  • Crypto platforms deliver with speed and confidence, without last‑minute surprises.
  • AI‑DLC is consistently applied, not selectively adopted.
  • Engineering teams spend more time building and less time coordinating.
  • Risks are surfaced early and managed deliberately.
  • Leadership trusts both the delivery outcomes and the delivery system.

"In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities."
