Atlanta

The Local Truck Driver position will handle local deliveries within a specific area with care, professionalism, and precision. Benefits of Driving with DSV include:

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Driving semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty on runs of up to one week or more
  • Backing trailers to customer dock
  • Maintaining compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior
  • Communicating with customer representatives in a pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner
  • Complying with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing
  • Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
  • Ensuring that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving
  • Swinging and securing trailer doors
  • Performing other duties as required

Qualifications and work experience include:

  • CDL A License Required
  • A minimum of 2 years CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years
  • 3+ years CDL A driving experience preferred
  • Meet D.O.T. qualification requirements, FMCSR 391.41
  • Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive cargo with care
  • Detail-oriented mindset required
  • Must have a TWIC or eligible to obtain a TWIC card within 90 days, if required

Physical demands include:

  • Sitting for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle
  • Using hands and fingers to operate a steering wheel, controls, GPS devices, and other on-board equipment
  • Reaching with hands and arms
  • Climbing in and out of the cab and trailer
  • Stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch during inspections, coupling/uncoupling, or loading/unloading activities
  • Communicating effectively using verbal and hearing skills
  • Seeing at a distance for safe driving, as well as close vision for reading documents, using electronic logs, and performing inspections
  • Carrying, pushing, or pulling freight weighing 1-125 pounds
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently reaching for freight at waist level and occasionally above shoulder height or below waist level
  • Shifting manual transmission and operating foot pedals
  • Squatting or crouching to handle and position freight
  • Conducting pre-trip inspection for a tractor and trailer
  • Hooking/unhooking various commercial vehicle combinations, manually lowering/raising landing gear, operating the fifth wheel release level, locking/releasing pintle-hooks, fueling vehicles, and checking engine oil/coolant levels
  • Performing preventative maintenance
  • Spending at least 5% of the day standing and 5% of the day walking on surfaces such as wood, metal, and concrete
  • Reaching above shoulder level, at waist level, and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck

Work environment includes:

  • Exposure to diesel fumes, airborne particles, and occasionally harsh weather conditions while loading or unloading
  • Time spent both inside the truck cab—which may involve extended periods of sitting and exposure to engine noise and vibration—and outside at customer sites, terminals, or on public roadways
  • Noise levels can vary from quiet inside the cab to moderate or loud at delivery or pick-up locations
  • The expected base pay range is $28.00 – $30.00 Hourly. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
