CDL Driver Class A

Position Overview

CDL Driver Class A is expected to drive vehicles that include, trucks, construction trailers, dump trucks, water trucks, Concrete Volumetric Truck, sweeper truck, and other types of vehicles that includes automatic and manual transmission to transport and deliver construction materials, equipment, and cargo or damaged vehicles to specified job sites or destinations. The CDL driver class A is expected to hook the construction equipment to the truck trailer and make sure it is properly secured. The driver must be able to do daily mechanical checks to report any safety issue to the supervisor. While no driving vehicles the CDL Driver Class A is expected to perform a variety of tasks involving physical labor at construction job sites. Job duties are constantly changing depending on the requirements of each project. Must have a valid CDL class A driver license and a clear MVR.

Essential Functions of the Job
  1. Conducts pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  2. Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
  3. Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy civil construction work.
  4. Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
  5. Complies with all safety, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  6. Responsible for the safe operation of industrial trucks in the transport and delivery of construction materials to roads/ highways construction jobsites, or storage yards.
  7. Operates commercial trucks on public roadways in accordance with prevailing traffic laws and regulations, and according to company safety policies.
  8. Preferred experience: trucks/trailer, dump trucks, water truck
  9. Following experience would be a plus, Concrete Volumetric Truck, Sweeper truck
  10. While no driving company vehicles the CDL Driver Class A is expected to perform a variety of tasks involving physical labor at construction job sites
  11. Performs pick and shovel on construction sites, loads, and unloads stone, gravel, dirt, timber, steel reinforcement, heavy mechanical equipment, or tools to the appropriate locations.
  12. Short operation of equipment.
  13. Flags traffic, setting out barricades, cones, or other safety devices to help ensure the safety of the crew and the public.
  14. Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy civil construction projects.
  15. Other duties as assigned
General Tasks:
  • Maintain a clean job site to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.

Requirements
  • Occasional travel overnight - Travel may be required based on operational needs. (CHANGE IT)
  • Valid CDL Class A Driver license and Clear MVR record.
This position is subject to outside environmental conditions to include extreme cold and hot temperatures according to the season. This is a heavy-duty position that requires long periods of standing, walking, climbing, stooping, and bending. Applicants must be capable to lift 70 pounds or more.
