About the Position

The Local Driver CDL A is responsible for the safe and timely transport and delivery of general commodities between warehouses and scheduled destinations. This position drives a diesel tractor/trailer and requires the possession of a CDL. Local Drivers perform daily trips. This position is required to follow company policy, participate in required trainings and keep truck clean. This position may be assigned to business units that require White Glove service that goes beyond standard shipping methods. This service is tailored to customer needs with emphasis on product handling from the time the product is received to delivery to the end customer.

Functions
  • Operates the company equipment to ensure that the product is delivered in a safe and timely manner.
  • Pre plan trip(s) and communicate any delays to appropriate team member.
  • Understands the utilization of secure devices, and monitors freight for secure devices to ensure products are delivered to their final destination(s), undamaged, and in their original condition.
  • Required to follow company policy, participate in required trainings and keep truck clean.
  • Maintains driver's daily logs, and other documents as required.
  • Responsible for performing a full pre-trip and post-trip inspections on all company equipment operated.
  • Immediately reports all instances of damaged product and/or delivery issues to the Supervisor - Dedicated Transportation/Manager - Dedicated Transportation.
  • Provide White Glove service at every pickup and delivery.
  • Keeps equipment fueled, tidy, and in compliance with inspection requirements.
  • Ensures all dunnage is secured before entering public roads.
  • Accountable for all assigned tools and equipment.
  • Maintain professional conduct and attitude towards other motorists who share the highway.
  • Conform to all DOT and OSHA regulations and state laws.
  • Perform any other reasonable request as directed by management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience of tractor trailer driving is required within the past 7 years.
  • Meets FMCSA and company requirements
  • Pass Background Check, DOT Physical and Drug Screening.
