Position SummaryÂ
Hildene seeks an energetic, knowledgeable, and mission-driven Livestock Manager & Educator to oversee the daily care and management of our livestock while creating meaningful educational experiences for visitors of all ages.Â

ResponsibilitiesÂ
  Livestock ManagementÂ
- Oversee the health, welfare, and daily care of Hildene's livestock.Â
- Manage feeding, breeding, lambing, shearing, hoof care, vaccinations, and preventative health programs.Â
- Monitor animal behavior and coordinate veterinary care as needed.Â
- Maintain pastures, fencing, shelters, and livestock facilities.Â
- Keep accurate animal health and breeding records.Â
- Coordinate seasonal farm activities and ensure compliance with animal welfare and agricultural best practices.Â
  Education & Visitor EngagementÂ
- Welcome visitors and interpret Hildene's agricultural mission.Â
- Develop and present engaging educational programs for school groups, families, and adults.Â
- Lead farm tours, demonstrations, and hands-on learning experiences.Â
- Help visitors understand the connection between agriculture, conservation, and the Lincoln family's legacy.Â
- Work collaboratively with Hildene's education and visitor experience teams to create memorable programs throughout the year.Â
  Leadership & CollaborationÂ
- Supervise and mentor farm assistants, interns, and volunteers.Â
- Work closely with Hildene staff across departments to support public events and educational initiatives.Â
- Assist with planning for seasonal programming and special events.Â
- Help foster a welcoming, collaborative culture centered on learning and stewardship.Â
Qualifications -Â
- Experience managing livestock, preferably cows, sheep and other small ruminants.Â
- Knowledge of pasture management, rotational grazing, and sustainable agricultural practices.Â
- Strong animal husbandry and livestock health skills.Â
- Experience teaching, interpreting, or engaging the public is highly desirable.Â
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Â
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.Â
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.Â
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding farm work.Â
- Valid driver's license.Â
