The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff within the early childhood setting. The majority of assigned duties are performed at the Leon County Schools Childcare Center located on the Lively Technical College campus at 500 Appleyard Drive Primary responsibilities include the daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, restrooms, offices, kitchens, and common areas in compliance with district custodial standards and Department of Children and Families (DCF) regulations.
In addition to the primary work location, the Custodian will provide custodial services at the Wesson Early Learning site at 2813 S Meridian St. for approximately two hours each week, or more frequently as needed. Responsibilities at this location include cleaning one office, one classroom, a hallway, restrooms, and other designated common areas to ensure a clean and safe learning environment.
This position also assists with lawn care and exterior upkeep to ensure the grounds at assigned sites remain safe, attractive, and well maintained. The Custodian may support minor building maintenance tasks as directed, including routine inspections for cleanliness and safety. Issues requiring additional attention are reported to the Building Maintenance Supervisor.
The role requires flexibility to work independently across multiple locations, prioritize assigned responsibilities, and respond promptly to facility needs throughout the day. The Custodian should demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service in support of young children, families, and staff.
