Job description

At Dollywood Parks & Resorts, we create memories worth repeating! We are seeking a City Sound Technician who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while bringing families closer together while caring deeply about our brand.
We want to work alongside someone who acts as an extension of our mission, values, and culture. The ideal City Sound Technician will be equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.
This role exists to provide the Entertainment Department with quality sound technicians to operate, maintain, modify and implement Dollywood's Parks and Resorts city sound systems in order to provide park Guests with a high-quality entertainment experience matching the expected level of Dolly's and the Dollywood brand. This role is a high-level technical user with the ability to adjust audio levels and scheduling to provide needed operational support to multiple areas of the Parks.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.
Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Be primary technician for all daily operational responsibilities related to city sound control and sound mixing
  • Ability to make programming changes to existing audio programs and audio software
  • Ability to make operational decisions in response to environment or situation
  • Have a high understanding of environmental influencers on the quality of sound in a live environment
  • Able to react to the overall environment and changing needs
  • Able to react to daily equipment needs and upkeep
  • Responsible for routine site maintenance and upkeep of audio system and related components
  • Responsible for maintenance and upkeep that requires a high level of investigation and problem solving
  • Maintain a daily log of maintenance and city sound requests
  • Manage daily system schedule and perform or schedule 2 daily audits of components and zone volumes vs. attendance
  • Record and upload on park announcements and execute routine Park Alert system audits and report to Safety/Security/Supervisor
  • Responsible for multiple show tracks
  • Be able and willing to share knowledge and best use cases with other technical team members
  • Wear Dollywood Entertainment provided costume or uniform
  • Keep work area orderly, neat, safe, and well-maintained
  • Assist in other areas of Entertainment Division as directed
  • Drive company vehicles (cars, vans, non-commercial trucks) to transport personnel and/or supplies
  • Participate in work calls and complete tasks in a timely manner

Education and Experience Required
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience which demonstrates the successful execution of similar duties and responsibilities in a live environment preferred
  • Solid understanding of large and small PA systems, amplification, signal flow, electrical wiring and microphone systems
  • Must be able to operate a computer and be knowledgeable of general use programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Have a strong understanding of both hard-wired and wireless networking systems
  • Experience setting up and supporting audio systems
  • Experience with SMPTE timecode
  • Experience working on Apple and Windows computers
  • Experience with software/hardware items including but not limited to QSYS, DANTE, Audio Architect, and Pro Video Player preferred
  • High level of knowledge of high-tech theatrical equipment, installation, and operation
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles according to company policy. Must have valid driver's license, proof of auto liability insurance and acceptable motor vehicle driving record.

  • Must be able to hear well in noisy environments
  • Must be able to operate electrical audio equipment properly
  • Able to perform all job duties in a safe manner while following all Dollywood Safety procedures and policies
  • Have a high level of knowledge of electricity
  • Must be able to sweep and mop floors to keep areas clean for safety purposes

Physical and Cognitive Requirements
  • Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. utilizing company's safety guidelines for safe lifting
  • Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 13 hours. Employees may also be required to travel to various areas on property which may include changes in terrain, stairs and uneven surfaces
  • Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
  • Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat. Employees may be required to work indoors and outdoors
  • Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved methods
  • Ability to have physical mobility great enough to allow walking, kneeling, crawling, bending, reaching (high and low), twisting, and moving about tight spaces
  • Able to climb, and work comfortably at heights up to 100 ft
  • Ability and mobility to work on a variety of surfaces including but not limited to: carpet, wood, steel, concrete, grass, and dirt while being able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, lay, lift, and carry
