Job description

Role Yavapai County is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to lead the County's financial operations. This executive-level position is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and strategic direction to ensure sound fiscal management, transparency, and accountability of public resources. The Director of Finance serves as a key advisor to County leadership and plays a critical role in guiding financial decisions that impact county services and the community.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in accounting and payroll, including budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance, and demonstrate the ability to lead financial operations, ensure accuracy, and uphold the responsible stewardship of County financial resources. Review complete class specification for Director - Finance here. Major Duties, Responsibilities Develops policies and procedures for County financial functions, to include grants.

Manages various departmental duties, including coordinating purchasing, payroll, and property control. Oversees financial reporting including audits and state submissions. Supervises department employees, to including directing them and assisting with solving issues.

Develops long-term plans and goals, including a new ERP system and creating more efficient reporting. Assists with the County budget. Assists department directors and others with accounting-related issues.

Directs the preparation of financial reports. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: Master's Degree in Accounting or closely related field.

Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible accounting experience. An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis. Additional Requirements: Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.
