Temporary Shelter Attendant
The City of College Park is seeking a motivated Animal Shelter Attendant to support the Animal Control Division of the Department of Public Services. This position will work independently and be responsible for animal care at the shelter.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the care and feeding of animals in the kennel
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals and report any concerns to the supervisor, and make clear, legible notes
- Walk dogs and provide exercise for animals
Qualifications:
- Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with staff in a professional manner
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, as some animals may require assistance or transport
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with animals is preferred
- Knowledge of basic animal care and behavior is a plus
- Preference would be shown to applicants who live near or in the city.
- Ability to work during holidays and evenings as needed
