Job description

Regional CDL-A Flatbed Drivers

Home Every Weekend | Family-Owned Since 1928

Tired of being a truck number instead of a name? Join a family-owned flatbed carrier where

you’re home every weekend, your paycheck is predictable, and your truck is set up to make

your life easier on the road.

About Summerford Truck Line

Summerford Truck Line is a family-owned flatbed company based in Ashford, Alabama,

with over 98 years and four generations in the business. We’ve grown into a nationally

recognized carrier, but we still run on small-company values: safety, respect, and doing

things the right way.

The Regional Driver Position

Position: Regional Class A CDL Flatbed Driver (Company W2)

Freight: Primarily flatbed, 50% drop & hook / 50% live load–unload

Typical Weekly Miles: 2,500–3,000

Home Time: Guaranteed home every weekend

Terminals/Primary Lanes: Southeast and surrounding regional markets

What You’ll Earn
Average weekly pay: around $1,300–$1,500, with a guaranteed weekly minimum for

regional drivers

New drivers can earn $80,000+ in their first year with performance-based pay schedules

Mileage pay that increases with tenure and experience, plus safety and performance

incentives

Additional pay for short-haul loads under 100 miles, detention, and layover when

applicable

Benefits That Have Your Back

Full benefits package: medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and 401(k) with

company match

Paid holidays and paid vacation after your first year, with weeks added as your tenure grows

Optional legal coverage and reimbursement for certain credentialing costs like TWIC fees

Recruiting bonuses: earn extra per mile for every qualified driver you refer who joins the

team, with no cap as long as you both stay employed

Equipment & Comfort

Mostly Automatic Transmissions

Trucks equipped with refrigerators, satellite radio, APUs, and no driver-facing cameras
What We’re Looking For

Valid Class A CDL

At least 24 months of recent tractor-trailer experience (flatbed training available for the

right driver)

Generally clean MVR: no more than two moving violations in the last three years

Strong safety record and professional attitude

Willingness to handle tarping (more frequent in winter than in summer)

Why Drivers Stay

Our drivers consistently point to three reasons they stay with Summerford: they’re home

when we say they’ll be, their pay is steady and competitive, and they’re treated like part of

the family, not just a truck number. With nearly a century on the road, we’ve built a culture

where you can build a long-term, stable career—not just your next job.
