Position Summary
The instructor is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality instruction using current teaching methodologies in in-person, online, and hybrid formats through the College's Learning Management System (LMS). Responsibilities include maintaining up-to-date syllabi and course materials, timely grading and accurate academic records, academic advising and student support, participation in professional development, and service to the College through meetings, committees, and program activities. Instructional assignments may include day, evening, weekend, and distance education courses at any Northwest Shoals Community College campus or instructional location, and the instructor is expected to perform all duties professionally, support the College's mission and goals, and complete additional related duties as assigned by College administration.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Associate degree or equivalent in Automotive Service Technology, or related field (at least sixty (60) semester hours in a planned program including associate degree core), required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years full-time work experience as a practitioner in the automotive field, required.
  • Automotive Service Excellence certified, preferred.
  • Teaching experience in the automotive technology field, preferred.
  • Applicants must have documented ability to prepare for and deliver quality college-level instruction preferably using a multimedia format.*
*Note: If you are awarded an interview, during the interview you will be required to do a live teaching demonstration using technology in front of a panel search committee. You must bring your own presentation material to the interview.

SALARY: Compensation is in accordance with the Alabama Community College System's Salary Schedule D1 ($43,792 - $98,138 for 9-month appointment). An additional summer appointment may be available.

Sick Leave

Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy.
