About the job:
Sparx Hockey is a world leader in the design and production of skate sharpening equipment. We are seeking a talented and driven individual to join our team in the role of Design Engineer. At Sparx, you will be engaged in all aspects of consumer product development, from conceptualization and prototyping to testing, design, sourcing, design transfer all the way through to manufacturing. Sparx is a dynamic and fast paced environment, and we value entrepreneurship and creativity from all team members. The successful candidate will be both self-motivated and able to work in and inspire teams to achieve great results. Engineering excellence and design integrity are of paramount importance.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Use CAD to create innovative and intelligent products in the sports technology market.
โ€ข Work closely with other engineers, Marketing, Manufacturing and Leadership teams to maintain our position as a pioneer and market-leader.
โ€ข Prove your designs with simulation and testing that accurately reflect real-world conditions.
โ€ข Identify and develop suppliers for prototypes and production.
โ€ข Create complete documentation packages that are critical to manufacturing, quality and technical support.
โ€ข Support production of final product by troubleshooting process and component issues.
Requirements:
โ€ข BS / MS in Mechanical Engineering.
โ€ข 2-6 years relevant work experience.
โ€ข A proven track record of designing and launching products.
โ€ข Consumer Product Development experience highly preferred.
โ€ข Superior proficiency in CAD modeling, Solidworks preferred.
โ€ข Proficiency in creating drawing packages with a solid understanding of GD&T.
โ€ข Demonstrated proficiency in design for injection molded, machined and metal components and assemblies.
โ€ข Knowledge of Printed Circuit Assembly fabrication and electrical wiring.
โ€ข Experience with hands-on prototyping and use of shop tools.
โ€ข Demonstrated critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.
โ€ข Excellent interpersonal skills.
โ€ข Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills.
โ€ข International travel.
