Job description

Duties * Lead a patrol team of three or more officers, including Department of Army Civilian Police (DACP), Military * Police (MP) and Department of Army Security Guards (DASG). * Provide direct oversight of all stages of investigations conducted by assigned DACP and MP personnel. * Provide sworn testimony based on investigative findings. * Reports team performance and training needs to leadership. * Conduct various law enforcement training programs for military and civilian personnel on the installation. Requirements Conditions of employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * Incumbent must be able to successfully graduate from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General. * Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes. * Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 such as pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation, Physical Agility Test within 60 days of hire, comply and maintain requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP). * This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing. * Position is covered by the Lautenberg Amendment. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position. Incumbent is subject to removal from the position if convicted of a felony. * Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions. * Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license. * Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a valid Tier 3 (Secret) security investigation. * Position requires working of irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime. * Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required. * Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals. * NOTE: Federal law requires removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies. * In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service; 2) Utilizing search and arrest authority; 3) Conducting traffic patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer; and 4) Utilizing computer-based systems for incident reporting and case documentation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
