Medicaid Collections Specialist - Hospital Revenue Cycle
Location: Remote
Pay Range: $23.00 - $26.00 / Per hour
Start Date: ASAP

About Our Client
Addison Group is hiring for our client, an established healthcare organization, seeking an experienced Medicaid Collections Specialist to support its hospital revenue cycle operations.
This position is focused primarily on inpatient rehabilitation Medicaid accounts, including high-dollar and significantly aged claims. The ideal candidate has strong hospital-side Medicaid and Managed Medicaid experience and is comfortable independently researching complex reimbursement issues through resolution.
Job Description
The Medicaid Collections Specialist will manage outstanding hospital claims from research through final resolution. This role requires someone who understands the full Medicaid billing and collections process and can identify why a claim has not paid correctly, determine the appropriate next step, and take ownership of the account.
Most research and follow-up will be completed electronically through billing systems and payer portals, with phone outreach primarily reserved for claims requiring additional clarification.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Medicaid and Managed Medicaid hospital accounts receivable
  • Research high-dollar, aged, denied, and unpaid claims
  • Review claim history to identify the underlying reason for nonpayment
  • Determine the appropriate billing or collection action needed to resolve outstanding accounts
  • Correct and resubmit claims when necessary
  • Review payer responses and reimbursement information for accuracy
  • Navigate Medicaid payer portals and healthcare billing systems to research account status
  • Work claims independently from initial research through final resolution
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all account activity
  • Prioritize complex accounts while consistently meeting daily productivity expectations
  • Escalate unusual reimbursement issues when additional support is required

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of Medicaid collections experience
  • Recent hospital/facility billing or collections experience
  • Experience working with Medicaid and Managed Medicaid claims
  • Strong understanding of hospital reimbursement and insurance claim workflows
  • Ability to explain the Medicaid billing and collections process from start to finish
  • Experience researching denials and identifying appropriate corrective action
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
