Job description

Who We Are
BH Management, LLC is a people-first multifamily owner and operator that grew from a small startup into one of the nation's largest commercial real estate companies. Founded in 1993, BH is celebrated for its simple commitment to doing business the right way and investing in its team. Today, BH manages over 100,000 units, employs over 2,800 people, owns its processes in-house, and is praised by Fortune Magazine as the “Best Workplace for Women,” “Best Workplace for Millennials,” and “Best Workplaces for Diversity.” Powered by innovation and a can-do attitude, BH improves daily, striving to construct a smarter way to live, invest, manage, and grow.
BH is passionate about setting the standard in the multifamily industry. We are a welcoming band of go-getters who think big, sweat the details, and take our work (but never ourselves) too seriously. We set our sights high, own our mistakes, and turn lemons into lemonade. We are incredibly proud of where we’ve come and are ready to tackle what’s next. Come join us!

Role Overview
The Senior Vice President of Multifamily Operations is a pivotal enterprise executive responsible for the overall operational health, performance, and strategic direction of a large, complex multifamily portfolio spanning diverse geographies and asset types. This role is designed for a proven high-level leader, one who has sat at the helm, understands the full P&L, and brings a comprehensive, endtoend understanding of the multifamily business. Reporting directly to the President, the SVP serves as the senior operating executive for the platform, providing leadership to approximately 90 operational leaders, including Regional Managers, Regional Vice Presidents, and Area Vice Presidents. This leader sets the operational vision, drives disciplined execution, develops executive talent, and ensures alignment between strategy, culture, and performance. Deeply steeped in the multifamily industry, the SVP brings both strategic perspective and operational rigor, understanding what drives NOI, how markets truly behave at the asset and submarket level, how capital partners think, and how decisions made at the top ultimately play out onsite. This executive balances high expectations with humility, knowing that sustainable success is achieved through people, partnerships, and a genuine respect for the “village” that makes performance possible. At BH, how results are achieved matters as much as what is achieved! While this is a remote position, we are only able to hire candidates who reside in the following states due to employment eligibility requirements: AL, AZ, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MO, MN, NC, NE, NV, NY, OH, OK, SC, TN, TX, and VA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide enterpriselevel leadership and strategic oversight for all multifamily operations across a large, geographically diverse portfolio.
  • Lead, mentor, and hold accountable a broad leadership organization of approximately 90 operational leaders, with direct oversight of Regional, Area, and Regional Vice Presidents.
  • Partner closely with the President and executive leadership team to shape, execute, and evolve the company’s longrange operational and strategic plans.
  • Own operational performance at scale, ensuring consistency, accountability, and excellence while allowing for marketappropriate autonomy and innovation.
  • Serve as a trusted executive partner to clients, investors, and internal stakeholders, translating business plans into operational reality and sustained financial performance.
  • Establish, refine, and enforce enterprise operating standards, KPIs, and governance frameworks that drive NOI growth, risk mitigation, operational efficiency, and resident satisfaction.
  • Bring a sophisticated financial lens to operations, including deep involvement in budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and performance diagnostics.
  • Maintain expertlevel understanding of macroeconomic factors, capital markets, regulatory environments, submarket dynamics, and competitive trends impacting the multifamily industry.
  • Anticipate challenges before they surface, providing clear, decisive counsel and actionable solutions to executive leadership and ownership groups.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement, challenging legacy thinking while ensuring operational discipline and scalability.
  • Partner with Business Development and clients to identify, secure, and onboard new business, including leading highstakes pitches, client discussions, and portfolio transitions.
  • Act as a culture carrier for BH, modeling leadership presence, humility, accountability, and appreciation for the contributions of teams at every level.
  • Travel approximately 60%, or as needed, to support markets, clients, and business priorities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You Have

  • 15+ years of experience in multifamily real estate operations, with a demonstrated ability to lead geographically diverse portfolios.
  • President, COO, or Senior EVlevel operating experience, with demonstrated success owning enterprise outcomes.
  • Extensive experience across both owneroperated and thirdparty management platforms, with a nuanced understanding of competing stakeholder priorities.
  • 10+ years leading senior leaders, with a proven ability to build, scale, and sustain highperforming executive and field leadership teams.
  • Deep operational and financial acumen, able to connect strategy, market realities, onsite execution, and financial outcomes.
  • Highly credible executive communicator with the presence and judgment to engage owners, investors, boards, clients, and internal leadership on complex, highimpact decisions.
