Kennel Assistant
Peoria Area Veterinary Group Dunlap, IL
Peoria Area Veterinary Group (PAVG) is seeking a Full-Time Kennel Assistant to join our team of dedicated veterinary professionals at our Dunlap location. Kennel Assistants are valuable members of our team and play a crucial role in patient care. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with the ability to multi-task and is willing to learn new skills. You will be responsible for providing direct support to our veterinary team, taking care of the boarding facility and its patients. If you're passionate about animals and enjoy staying active while at work, we'd love to hear from you!
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Animal handling and restraint
  • Walk animals that may need support/assistance
  • Knowledge of basic husbandry/feeding/and nutrition
  • Administer medication to patients
  • Maintain cleanliness of boarding area and clinic
  • Restock and organize kennel supplies
  • Bathe/groom animals
  • Continue to advance knowledge base and skill set

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Professional experience in a veterinary clinical setting (CSR, kennel attendant, vet assistant, other), preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Team player, have patience and maintain a positive attitude
  • Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds
