POSITION DESCRIPTION:
VETERINARY KENNEL ASSISTANT

JOB SUMMARY:

As a veterinary kennel assistant, you will be an essential part of the clinic team and help improve the lives of thousands of animals, and people, each year. CRAH is seeking an enthusiastic, positive, organized, compassionate, hardworking animal lover to add to the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Feed boarding cats and dogs.
  • Maintain clean kennel- indoor and outdoor kennels, sink, dishes, laundry, storage, etc.
  • Basic grooming for boarding cats and dogs: bathe, trim nails and anal gland expression, clean ears, etc.
  • Treats people and animals with respect; contributes to effective teamwork. Using top notch customer service.
  • Restrain boarding cats and dogs for nail trim, ear cleaning, medication administration, bathing, etc.
  • Medicate boarding cats and dogs.
  • Communicate in an effective and professional manner with clients and staff, both orally and in writing.
  • Medical record keeping of all boarding cats and dogs.
  • Administer medications.
  • Follow written and verbally communicated instructions.
  • Assist with client/boarder check-in and checkout.
  • Assist with inventory.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must embrace the CRAH mission and adhere to CRAH policies.
  • Report to Clinic Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

VETERINARY ASSISTANT QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Obtained High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • At least 18 years or older.
  • 2+ years of veterinary experience preferred but not required.
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
  • Ability to shift gears, recover from setbacks and overcome obstacles.
  • Proven organizational, time management, and planning skills required.
  • Maturity with ability to use good judgment and display a professional manner at all times.
  • Self-starter, initiating activities within the framework developed with minimal supervision.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Patience and tact when working with difficult, emotional, or angry people.
  • Ability to adapt and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
