About the Role:
Dogs Day Away in Kyle, TX is looking for a passionate and energetic Kennel Assistant to join our team! If you love dogs and want to spend your days making tails wag, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Come be a part of a fun, animal-loving environment where every day is rewarding.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with dog handling, including safely moving dogs between kennels and play areas
  • Monitor dogs during group play and socialization sessions
  • Observe and report any signs of illness, injury, or unusual behavior to supervisors
  • Provide basic grooming tasks such as brushing and bathing as needed
  • Greet pet owners and assist with check-in and check-out procedures
  • Cleaning, Disinfecting and maintaining all common areas and animal kennels, play yard areas and any related equipment to maintain a safe and hygienic facility. 
  • Provides for the overall health and care of boarding dogs by feeding, watering, and bathing/brushing animals when needed.
  • Giving medications/supplements as directed.
  • Interacting with pets and providing playtime enrichment.
  • Monitoring dogs for any behavioral or health changes while in Dogs Day Away care.
  • Monitoring outdoor play times to ensure animal safety.
  • Reception duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying vaccinations, collecting payments and data entry into our software system.
  • Monitoring dog body language to determine less stressful ways to handle pets. 
  • Implement all Company policies regarding vaccinations and handling of pets
  • Maintains all electronic records in company software
Requirements:
  • Genuine love for dogs and comfort handling animals of all sizes and temperaments
  • Previous experience in a kennel, veterinary, or animal care setting is a plus
  • Ability to stand, bend, and be physically active for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow animal care protocols
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable with a strong work ethic
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and early morning or evening shifts
  • Applicants must be at least 18 Yrs of age and have reliable transportation.
  • Must be available weekends and holidays. Schedule hours may vary. (5:30am-8:30pm - 7 days a week).  
  • Must be willing and able to work outdoors all times of year. 
  • Must be capable of lifting 40lbs.
  • Must be able to follow written instructions and pay attention to detail.
    Pay rate: DOE - please note this is an entry-level position.
    Employees are compensated based upon experience and overall job performance. There is a bonus plan in place for employees after their initial 90 day probationary period
