Job description

Indiana University Health, Indiana's most comprehensive and top-ranked healthcare system, is actively recruiting a General Surgery Physician Leader to join our growing team in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We are in the early stages of developing a new healthcare facility and looking for passionate and skilled professionals to join us as we prepare to launch this exciting new chapter in patient care.  This provider will manage general surgery cases while also leading, managing, and directing all clinical services to achieve specialty goals.  Responsibilities will include overseeing the appropriateness, quality, efficiency and effectiveness of medical care, with a focus on driving operational excellence and fostering growth.  Additionally, this provider will assist with physician recruitment for this respective specialty.

Job Details:

  • Inpatient and outpatient duties
  • General surgery cases to manage
  • Shared Call
  • Administrative time for leadership related duties
  • Flexibility as we build and shape this new facility set to open in early 2027

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy 
  • American Board of Surgery Board Eligible/Board Certified Surgeon
  • Able to obtain IN licensure
  • Candidates with 3+ years of experience is preferred
  • Experience in leadership and management is preferred
  • Demonstrates a commitment to IU Health's mission, vision, and values by exhibiting behaviors and delivering results that align with the strategic
    direction of the organization
  • Demonstrable track record in forging physician/management relations
