Live In Estate information

What is a live in estate manager?

Live-in estate managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of large residential properties while residing on-site. Their duties typically include supervising household staff, managing vendors and contractors, ensuring security, coordinating events, and maintaining the property’s upkeep. By living on the premises, they are available to address issues promptly and provide personalized service to homeowners. Estate managers often have experience in hospitality, property management, or related fields, and are trusted with managing both the physical aspects of the estate and the privacy of its residents.

What are some unique challenges faced by live in estate managers, and how can candidates prepare for them?

Live-In Estate Managers often face the challenge of balancing personal time with the demands of a 24/7 role, as they are frequently on call to address issues that arise on the property. These roles require adaptability, discretion, and strong problem-solving skills to handle unexpected situations, such as maintenance emergencies or special events. Candidates can prepare by developing strong organizational routines, setting clear boundaries with employers where possible, and building a reliable network of service providers for swift response to estate needs. Additionally, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality is crucial, as these positions often involve working closely with high-profile individuals or families.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a live in estate manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Live-In Estate Manager, you need strong organizational skills, property management experience, and often a background in hospitality or facilities management. Familiarity with home automation systems, budgeting software, and maintenance scheduling tools is commonly required. Exceptional communication, discretion, and problem-solving abilities help build trust and ensure smooth household operations. These skills are crucial for maintaining property value, meeting household needs, and ensuring seamless day-to-day management.

What is the difference between Live In Estate vs Live In Housekeeper?

The estate role requires broader management skills, while the housekeeper role emphasizes cleaning expertise. Both positions are common in large private residences and often require similar living arrangements.

At Jarvis Law Office, PC, we help families live securely, age with dignity, and protect what matters most. Our practice focuses on estate planning, elder law, Medicaid planning, trusts and estates, probate, and related areas of law.

We are seeking an Estate Administration (EA) Attorney to join our growing team. This position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys working directly with clients, solving complex legal problems, and collaborating with attorneys and legal professionals to provide an exceptional client experience.

Position Summary

The EA Attorney provides legal guidance and support throughout the client experience, from estate plan design and signing through trust and estate administration. The attorney will serve as a legal resource to our drafting, funding, and administration teams while independently managing assigned trust and estate administration and probate matters.

The EA Attorney will work closely with Sales Attorneys, paralegals, Client Success Coordinators, and other members of the Firm to ensure a seamless transition from estate planning into trust and estate administration.

  • Manage Trust & Estate Administration: Independently manage assigned trust and estate administration and probate matters from opening through closing, including trust funding, asset retitling, court filings, inventories, accountings, notices, and other related requirements.
  • Provide Legal Guidance: Serve as a legal resource to attorneys and support team members on estate planning, trusts, Medicaid planning, probate, and estate administration matters.
  • Support Clients: Meet with clients, trustees, personal representatives, and family members to explain legal matters, provide guidance on next steps, and help clients navigate the administration process following a death or incapacity.
  • Review & Ensure Quality: Review estate planning documents, trust funding recommendations, and administration files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with Sales Attorneys, paralegals, and Client Success Coordinators to maintain continuity throughout the client experience and ensure a smooth transition from planning through administration.
  • Develop & Support the Team: Provide coaching, mentoring, and legal guidance to paralegals and other team members involved in estate administration and contribute to improvements in workflow, processes, and client service.
  • Stay Current & Contribute to the Firm: Maintain current knowledge of estate planning, trusts and estates, probate, Medicaid, VA benefits, taxation, and long-term care planning, while contributing to Firm initiatives, educational programs, and practice improvements.
What We’re Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Active, in-good-standing Ohio law license.
  • At least five (5) years of customer service experience.
  • Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and priorities with a high degree of independence.
  • Strong commitment to providing exceptional client service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one (1) year of trust and estate administration or probate experience.
  • At least one (1) year of Elder Law experience.
  • Active, in-good-standing West Virginia law license, or willingness to obtain one within the first year of employment.
  • Experience with estate planning, trusts, Medicaid planning, probate, or long-term care planning.
The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an attorney who combines sound legal judgment with exceptional client service. You should be comfortable explaining complex legal concepts in an understandable way, working directly with clients and families, managing cases independently, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Client-focused and committed to an exceptional client experience.
  • Collaborative and enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Proactive and willing to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
  • Adaptable and comfortable in a growing and evolving Firm.
  • Committed to professional growth and staying current in the areas of law we practice.
