Founded in 1897, Agawam Hunt is one of the original 25 USGA Member Clubs. A family-friendly, year-round club located minutes from downtown Providence, in Rumford, Agawam Hunt boasts some of the finest recreational facilities in New England, that includes a premier Food & Beverage program, that compliments our 18-hole Donald Ross-designed golf course, indoor and outdoor tennis, pickleball, platform, squash, swimming, and a close community of families and individuals.

About the Positions

Agawam Hunt is seeking qualified members to join our proven team of driven professionals for the summer 2024 season. Positions include Short Order Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Line Cooks. The team has a strong commitment to sourcing the best people, ingredients, and serving the community in a sustainable and warm environment.

Our busy season is between May and October but qualified candidates have the ability to secure year-round employment as they prove their ability and commitment. Lunch is served outdoors and poolside May through October. The Club offers full food and beverage service in a fast-paced summer setting for our member families and their guests. Teamwork and taking initiative are crucial to team success. Spending time on your feet indoors and outdoors for long periods of time is a must. The environment at the club requires energy and self-motivation. A knowledge base to serve well-traveled guests is important, but a friendly attitude and willingness to learn are paramount. Individuals are empowered to bring their own talents and personality to their position.


Short Order Cook & Prep Cook

We are seeking a skilled Short Order Lunch Cook and/or Prep Cook to join our culinary team at our prestigious Country Club. As a Short Order Lunch Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of lunch items efficiently and to the highest standards, ensuring exceptional taste and presentation, in our poolside cafe.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a diverse range of lunch menu items, including sandwiches, salads, burgers, poke bowls, and other short order items.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared in accordance with club standards and recipes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation and ensure timely service.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate any supply needs to the sous chef or manager.
  • Uphold excellent customer service standards by fulfilling special requests and accommodating dietary restrictions when necessary.

Line Cook

We are looking for a motivated Line Cook who can help prepare meals as per our organization's high standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing meals, cooking meals and keeping a sanitary work area. We are seeking an individual who is dependable, a self-starter, has an excellent work ethic, is committed to impeccable food presentation and garnishing, is a team player and prioritizes customer satisfaction. Weekly, our team cooks outside with live fire in front of members. Our kitchen receives whole fish and whole pigs to be broken down together, giving opportunities for learning whole animal breakdown and usage techniques. We work closely with a neighboring farm that grown produce exclusively for our program, giving opportunities to tend and harvest produce and learn about the seed to table progression. We forage on our 165 acre woodland course and preserve, ferment, and always have food projects going on. We are looking for someone who feels excitement for these things. The Line Cook reports to the Sous Chef and will be responsible for the following:

  • Preparing basic components of each dish on our menu using our proven recipes
  • Memorizing and utilizing our serving preparation sizes and all basic meal prep procedures used in the kitchen
  • Ensuring that the kitchen, all food prep areas and all food storage areas meet restaurant cleaning standards
  • Working with a team of cooks to do preparation work for other shifts when needed
  • Monitoring product freshness and rotating product based on predetermined schedule
  • Able to work without supervision while maintaining a high standard of professionalism
  • Able to work in a scratch kitchen

Line Cook Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of 4+ years cooking and kitchen administration experience. Less experience will be considered with exceptional education
  • High-level of professionalism
  • Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Excellent verbal communication and organization skills
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time on a regular basis
  • Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Knowledge & awareness of sanitation & food safety requirements.
  • ServeSafe certificate preferred.
  • Working in previous scratch kitchen environments is a plus.
