Job description

Direct Counsel represents a prestigious AmLaw firm seeking a Business Litigation Associate to join its Washington, DC office. This opportunity is ideal for a fifth-year associate (Class of 2021) or an attorney with up to five years of litigation experience who is interested in handling sophisticated business disputes and white-collar matters within a nationally recognized litigation practice.

The ideal candidate will have experience in complex commercial litigation, white collar defense, telecommunications litigation, privacy litigation, or related areas, along with strong research, writing, and advocacy skills.

Location: Washington

Responsibilities:

  • Handle complex business litigation and white-collar matters through all phases of litigation
  • Draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and other litigation-related documents
  • Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies
  • Prepare deposition outlines, exhibits, and discovery materials
  • Coordinate and manage complex discovery matters
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Argue motions and participate in court proceedings
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and internal legal teams
  • Support business development and client relationship initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Up to 5 years of litigation experience, ideally Class of 2021
  • Experience with complex commercial litigation, white collar defense, telecommunications litigation, privacy litigation, or related practice areas
  • Strong understanding of civil procedure and litigation strategy
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Federal clerkship and/or large law firm experience preferred
  • Licensed or eligible for immediate admission in Washington, DC
  • Maryland and/or Virginia Bar admission is a plus
  • Strong academic credentials required
