McGuireWoods is seeking an Assistant Managing Clerk to join our New York office. This role works closely with attorneys and legal staff to support court filings, docketing, calendaring, and procedural compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of federal and New York court rules, exceptional attention to detail, and experience managing critical litigation deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor court filings and maintain accurate docketing and calendaring records.
  • File documents electronically through CM/ECF and NYSCEF and coordinate hard-copy filings when required.
  • Calculate and track litigation deadlines using applicable court rules and statutes.
  • Review court notifications, update case information, and maintain records in CourtAlert.
  • Serve as a liaison between attorneys, staff, court personnel, and outside vendors.
  • Assist attorneys with procedural questions, court requirements, and filing strategies.
  • Coordinate service of process and manage court-related logistics.
  • Conduct legal and procedural research related to court rules, case status, and court orders.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of managing clerk, docketing, or related litigation support experience.
  • Combination of college coursework, paralegal certification, and/or relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with CourtAlert or similar docketing software preferred.
  • Proficiency with PACER, NYSCEF, CM/ECF, Westlaw, LexisNexis, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local court rules and procedures.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and client service skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
