SENIOR CLAIMS REPRESENTATIVE

Mid-Continent Group, a proud member of the Great American Insurance Group, specializes in commercial casualty coverages with a strong focus on general liability for construction, energy, and other complex industries. We offer a broad portfolio of General Liability, Commercial Auto, Inland Marine, and Umbrella products.


We are seeking an experienced casualty claims professional to join our team as a Senior Claims Representative. Placement within the Senior Claims Representative position will be based on the selected candidate's experience, technical expertise, demonstrated claim handling capabilities, and overall qualifications.


The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex casualty claims and a demonstrated track record of delivering exceptional customer service and favorable claim outcomes through effective collaboration with insureds, brokers, defense counsel, and internal business partners. Experience within the construction, energy, or other complex casualty industry segments is strongly preferred.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Manage a portfolio of commercial general liability, including small to medium-sized construction defect losses, and commercial auto claims throughout the United States.
  • Investigate claims to evaluate coverage, liability, damages, and claim exposure.
  • Obtain and analyze policies, reports, statements, medical records, expert opinions, and other documentation necessary to evaluate and resolve claims.
  • Develop and execute effective claim resolution, settlement, and reserving strategies within assigned authority.
  • Analyze and negotiate settlements to achieve appropriate claim outcomes.
  • Communicate coverage positions and claim decisions to insureds, claimants, brokers, legal counsel, and business partners.
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, depositions, settlement conferences, and trials as needed.
  • Authorize payments within delegated authority and ensure timely and accurate claim handling.
  • Maintain complete and accurate claim documentation, correspondence, reports, and settlement records.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, marketing, risk engineering, and other internal partners to strengthen customer relationships and improve business results.
  • Serve as a resource on casualty claims handling, coverage analysis, litigation management, and settlement strategies.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Generally, 5+ years of commercial casualty claims handling experience.
  • Experience handling commercial general liability and/or commercial auto claims.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of policy interpretation, coverage analysis, reserving practices, and litigation management.
  • Professional designation such as CPCU, AIC, ARM, or progress toward designation preferred.
  • Ability to travel as needed.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE


  • Experience handling claims arising from construction, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, contracting, transportation, or other complex commercial casualty exposures.
  • Experience managing catastrophic injury, fatality, large-loss, or complex litigation matters.
  • Experience attending mediations, settlement conferences, depositions, and trials.
  • Experience developing and executing claim resolution strategies on complex casualty matters.
