Job description

Litigation Paralegal

The Fruge Law Firm
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Position: Full-Time

About Us

The Fruge Law Firm is a boutique plaintiff litigation firm dedicated to helping individuals and families through some of the most difficult times in their lives. We intentionally handle a limited number of cases so that every client receives personal attention and every case receives the preparation it deserves.

We believe that every client deserves exceptional representation regardless of the size of their case, and we are committed to pursuing justice with thorough preparation, integrity, and compassion.

Our practice emphasizes complex civil litigation involving catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, and other significant personal injury matters. A substantial portion of our practice includes medical malpractice litigation, one of the most challenging and intellectually rewarding areas of civil litigation.

We believe every case should be prepared as though it will ultimately be tried before a jury. That philosophy guides everything we do.

We are seeking a motivated Litigation Paralegal who enjoys challenging, meaningful work and wants to become an integral part of a small, team-oriented law firm.

Prior medical malpractice experience is not required. We are looking for someone with a solid litigation background, excellent organizational skills, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to continue learning. We are happy to train the right person.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage litigation files from intake through trial
  • Draft and file pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, correspondence, and other litigation documents
  • Organize, review, and summarize medical records and documentary evidence
  • Maintain litigation calendars and monitor court deadlines
  • Communicate professionally with clients, healthcare providers, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, and court personnel
  • Assist with deposition preparation, mediation, exhibit organization, and trial preparation
  • Coordinate medical record requests and document production
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical litigation files
  • Assist with factual investigation and case development
  • Work directly with the attorney on litigation strategy from the beginning of each case through resolution

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • At least two years of litigation experience (plaintiff or defense)
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, and dependability
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to accept increasing responsibility
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general legal technology

Experience with personal injury litigation is helpful but not required.

Why This Position Is Different

This is not a high-volume "settlement mill."

Our firm intentionally limits its caseload so that every file receives the time, preparation, and attention it deserves.

You will work directly with the attorney on sophisticated litigation involving serious injuries, wrongful death, and complex medical negligence claims. Rather than performing the same repetitive tasks every day, you will become involved in investigating cases, developing evidence, organizing medical records, working with experts, preparing depositions, drafting pleadings, preparing for trial, and helping build cases from start to finish.

Your work will matter. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our clients while continuing to develop your skills as a litigation professional.

Who Will Thrive Here

We value professionalism, kindness, initiative, accountability, and integrity.

We work hard, but we also believe people deserve to be treated with respect—including our clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and one another.

The ideal candidate enjoys taking ownership of their work, communicates well, pays attention to details, and finds satisfaction in producing outstanding results. If you're looking for a place where your contributions are appreciated, your ideas are welcomed, and your professional growth is encouraged, you'll fit in well here.

We are not looking to fill a position—we are looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career and become an important member of our team.

Benefits

  • Paid holidays
  • Paid vacation
  • Opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility
  • Stable, supportive, and respectful work environment
  • Direct mentorship from an experienced litigation attorney

Please submit:
