Job description

Evans & Dixon is currently seeking to add a Civil Litigation Associate in our St. Louis office. We are seeking an Associate with 1 to 3+ years of experience who has great litigation and trial skills and is eager to put those skills to work. As a Civil Litigation Associate, you will have the opportunity to work with and be mentored by highly experienced Civil Litigation Attorneys. You will learn different aspects of civil litigation, gain experience in trials, and will be working with a team of attorneys on a multitude of cases. Successful candidates will have a durable work ethic, superior ability to multitask, and enjoy working in a fast pace and intellectually stimulating setting.

What you'll do:
  • Collaboration: You will have the opportunity to work side by side with highly experienced attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants as a team.
  • Trial Prep: Collaborate with experienced litigation attorneys to prepare evidence, documents and presentations as you prepare for trial.
  • Attorney Responsibilities: You will be responsible for handling depositions, mediations, conferences between claimants & judges, and court appearances as you grow and evolve in your legal career.
  • Create: You will work on drafting pleadings, findings of fact, motions, briefs, opinions, and other legal documents.

What we're looking for:
  • One to three plus years of experience in the legal field
  • Working knowledge of state and federal laws and procedures
  • Strong analytical, communication and people skills
  • Ability to handle large caseloads and juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to work effectively with corporate professionals
  • Be committed to excellent performance
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Education and Qualifications:
  • A law degree from an ABA accredited law school
  • Actively licensed in Missouri
  • Ability to become licensed in Illinois, Kansas, Iowa or Nebraska
