What is a Lisp programming?

A Lisp Programming job involves developing, maintaining, and optimizing software using Lisp, a family of programming languages known for their symbolic processing and functional capabilities. Lisp programmers work on applications in artificial intelligence, symbolic computing, and automation, often using languages like Common Lisp or Scheme. Responsibilities may include writing and debugging Lisp code, designing algorithms, and integrating Lisp-based systems with other technologies. Many Lisp roles are found in research, AI development, and specialized software domains.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Lisp programming position?

To excel in Lisp Programming, you need a thorough understanding of functional programming concepts, data structures, and strong proficiency in Lisp and related dialects. Familiarity with integrated development environments (IDEs) supporting Lisp, version control systems like Git, and potentially certifications in software development are highly beneficial. Creative problem-solving, effective communication, and a collaborative mindset help professionals work efficiently in diverse tech teams. Mastering these skills ensures robust application development and seamless integration in multidisciplinary software projects.

What are the typical projects and team structures for roles focused on Lisp programming?

Professionals specializing in Lisp Programming often work on projects involving artificial intelligence, symbolic computation, or complex data analysis where Lisp’s unique strengths are advantageous. Team structures may range from small, agile groups in start-ups developing niche applications to larger enterprise teams maintaining legacy systems or innovating AI solutions. Collaborating with software engineers, data scientists, and domain experts is common, requiring flexibility and strong technical communication. This collaborative environment allows for knowledge sharing and exposure to a wide range of advanced computational problems, fostering both personal and professional growth.

Is Lisp programming still used?

Job description

Senior AutoCAD Architecture Specialist

AgeWave Solutions is seeking an exceptional AutoCAD Architecture expert to help advance the tools, automation, standards, and production systems behind our architectural workflow.

This is not a traditional CAD Drafter position. We are looking for a true AutoCAD power user, the person other experienced users turn to when they cannot figure something out.

The Role

You will work with our architectural, CAD, and technology teams to make our AutoCAD Architecture environment smarter, faster, more automated, and more standardized.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build advanced Dynamic Blocks using parameters, actions, visibility states, lookup tables, attributes, constraints, and other intelligent functionality.
  • Develop and maintain AutoCAD Architecture prototypes, templates, and intelligent content libraries.
  • Create AutoLISP/LISP routines, scripts, macros, custom commands, and other automation tools.
  • Configure and optimize AutoCAD Architecture AEC objects, styles, schedules, property sets, tags, and data extraction.
  • Improve Sheet Set Manager, XREF, plotting, publishing, layer, and drawing-management workflows.
  • Develop and maintain company-wide CAD standards and production procedures.
  • Identify repetitive production processes and develop ways to simplify or automate them.
  • Troubleshoot complex AutoCAD issues and serve as a technical resource for our team.
  • Train and mentor staff on advanced AutoCAD tools and best practices.
  • Work with our technology team to explore deeper AutoCAD integrations and automation.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has deep expertise and 10+ years of work experience in:

  • AutoCAD & AutoCAD Architecture
  • Advanced Dynamic Blocks
  • AutoLISP / Visual LISP
  • Architectural prototypes and templates
  • Tool Palettes & CUI/CUIX customization
  • Fields, attributes & Data Extraction
  • Sheet Set Manager
  • AEC Objects & Styles
  • CAD standards and workflow optimization
  • Architectural or residential production environments

Experience with VBA, .NET/C#, Python, Autodesk APIs, or database integrations is a major plus.

The Right Person

You're likely a strong fit if you're known as the “AutoCAD guru” in your organization. When you perform the same task repeatedly, your instinct is to automate it. You enjoy building intelligent tools, solving difficult CAD problems, improving workflows, and creating systems that make an entire production team more efficient.

Experience in production residential architecture or prototype-based architectural production is especially valuable.

Exceptional technical ability is more important to us than a specific degree or job title.

About AgeWave Solutions

AgeWave Solutions is a multidisciplinary architecture, structural engineering, and CAD production firm serving residential and commercial clients throughout Florida. We are actively investing in technology, automation, and process improvement to develop the next generation of architectural and engineering production systems.

How to Apply

Along with your resume, we'd love to see examples of advanced AutoCAD tools you've personally created, Dynamic Blocks, LISP routines, automation, prototypes, custom tools, or workflows that saved your team significant time.

If you've built something in AutoCAD that made people say, “How did you do that?”, we want to talk to you.
