Job description

RGNext employees execute and report on theater and strategic offensive and defensive ballistic missile testing and support space situational awareness operations and experiments, using a wide array of highly sophisticated radar, telemetry and optical sensors to meet the needs of our nation in defending the United States and its interests.

This overseas, accompanied position, is located on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the Linux Systems Administrator Principal Lead for the Reagan Test Range (RTR) Operations Center, driving mission-critical initiatives within a secure, isolated computing environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional peers, internal stakeholders, and management to engineer and sustain a highly available, resilient, and standardized IT infrastructure.
  • Lead the installation, configuration, and comprehensive support of physical and virtual RHEL-based servers, focusing heavily on Red Hat, Docker, and virtualization administration.
  • Actively mentor peers and junior administrators to ensure technical excellence, standard methodology adoption, and cohesive team operations.
  • Maintain a stringent security posture by rigorously applying STIG controls, executing comprehensive system patching, and adhering to strict backup schedules.
  • Perform advanced root cause analysis and resolution for complex hardware and software issues, while proactively monitoring systems to identify and mitigate risks before they impact the mission.
  • Strategically manage the hardware and software lifecycle, including the timely deployment of replacement systems and the secure administration of software packages via repositories or local file systems.
  • Foster effective working relationships across the department and wider RGNext business units, maintain a predictable work schedule, and provide flexible, on-demand mission support as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related field, or experience in lieu of education.
  • Eight (8) or more years’ experience working in related field in Information Technology.
  • Comprehensive expertise and advanced troubleshooting capabilities across a core foundational stack that includes RHEL. (7+), Docker (Swarm or Kubernetes), Ansible, and Git at a minimum.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership with a strong focus on mentoring. staff members, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and leveraging exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven organizational and project management acumen, accompanied by the ability to produce high-quality, detailed technical documentation.
  • Capability to effectively deploy, configure, and maintain Windows systems securely within a stringent DoD operational environment.
  • Operational flexibility and readiness to support mission-critical projects and specific requirements during occasional non-duty hours or weekends.
  • Must have and maintain or be able to obtain prior to start date a Security+, CySA+, GICSP, or similar certification meeting DoD 8140.01 / DoD 8570.01 baseline certification for IAT Level II.
  • Must have and maintain or be able to obtain prior to start date a CE (Computer Environment), Linux+, Server+, or similar certification meeting DoD 8140.01/ DoD 8570.01 baseline certification for IAT Level II.
  • Must apply extensive knowledge of a variety of Cyber Security field concepts, practices, and procedures to ensure the secure integration and operation of enclave systems.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • The ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 30 lbs. independently.
  • Ability to relocate to U.S. Army Garrison, Kwajalein Atoll, in the Marshall Islands.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Advanced expertise in architecting, maintaining, and deploying complex Ansible playbooks at scale.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing Ceph storage clusters.
  • Proficiency utilizing GitLab to manage code changes, documentation, and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
  • Experience implementing and managing Centrify for enterprise authentication and privilege management.
  • Advanced troubleshooting capabilities, including kernel-level debugging, combined with fluency in reading and writing scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Deep comprehension of TCP/UDP network stacks and adeptness in systematic troubleshooting across the OSI model.
  • Expertise in capacity planning, sizing, and rightsizing physical and virtual system resources using native OS utilities (e.g., sar, mpstat, top, vmstat, iostat).
  • Proven ability to architect secure environments and seamlessly integrate robust security controls into both new and existing solutions.
