Overview

i3 is searching for a Senior Linux Administrator to support the Missile Defense Agency Information Management and Software Services (AIMSS) effort. The mission is to design and implement a Missile Defense System with multiple layers of protection. The Senior Linux Administrator performs administration of cloud and on-site Linux technologies and provides end-to-end solutions for IT Systems. Creates and configures virtual and physical machines in a multi-platform environment. Monitors system performance and addresses any issues through an effective support process. This position is located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities
  • Build, configure, and maintain standardized Linux Operating Systems (such as RHEL 9) in various technical use cases.
  • Build and maintain virtual machine Linux golden images from source code management.
  • Integrate Linux operating systems with Active Directory environments utilizing tools such as SSSD.
  • Maintain software repository mirrors utilizing Red Hat Satellite servers and custom scripts.
  • Integrate multifactor authentication, CAC/smartcard PKI and certificate management in a mixed Windows/Linux environment.
  • Work with teammates on an agile project with a focus on providing a secure, versatile, efficient, reproduceable, and highly scalable computing environment.
  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software and implementing operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the applications and systems.
  • Perform Linux system configuration, patching, and vulnerability remediation utilizing Ansible, Terraform, Chef, GitLab, or other automation tools.
  • Coordinate hardware and software upgrades and installations with network and security teams.
  • Apply security controls as defined in DISA's Security Technical implementation Guides (STIGs). Ensure compliance with established MDA cybersecurity compliance standards for Linux and VM computing systems.
  • Implement and ensure operations for DOD security controls such as Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) and Host Based Security Systems (HBSS).
  • Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems applicable to the compliance of RMF accreditation packages.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and maintain systems and procedures to safeguard information systems, networks and databases.
  • Have a customer centric approach and provide all level of support for the technical and cyber team as well as the user base community.
  • Provides advice and training to end-users and provides mentorship to junior team members.
  • Work with software developers in ensuring their applications operate correctly within a Linux environment.
  • Ensure software application data is monitored, managed and stored within an on-prem and hybrid cloud environment.
Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Additional experience may substitute for degree.
  • Minimum 12+ years of relevant IT experience required.
  • Senior knowledge and experience of Linux operating systems (RHEL).
  • Experience with different database systems (PostgreSQL and MySQL).
  • Experience with container solutions (Podman).
  • Experience with Ansible playbooks.
  • Working knowledge of current systems and applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware conflicts.
  • Be able to quickly adapt to new situations, have a strong commitment to a team environment, maintain a capacity to work with little supervision, and the willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Must hold an approved DoD 8140 certification - CompTIA Security+ CE.
  • Must have an RHCSA certification, RHCE preferred.
  • Active Secret clearance required. Must be able to maintain the security clearance required for this position.
  • Must reside within a 75-mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville AL or be willing to relocate prior to start date.
