________________________________________ WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Cloud Linux Systems Administrator, you'll design, build, and support secure cloud platforms and Linux-based environments that power mission-critical applications. You will bring deep expertise in cloud computing and modern technology trends, delivering secure software-defined and physically configured infrastructure solutions that support both Linux and Windows-based applications in cloud environments.
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, work well with others, possess a strong desire to learn new technologies, and have excellent communication skills to effectively share knowledge.
You will:
• Help the team achieve a high level of performance and quality by holding teams accountable, removing obstacles, and mentoring junior team members.
• Define project schedules and scope while balancing timely and regular value deliveries; organize and lead working and project status meetings.
• Deliver Agile projects that provide outstanding business value to end users.
• Advise on best practices addressing Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements and their integration with COTS deployments in cloud-based PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS configurations.
• Support the Product Owner in managing stakeholder communications, customer expectations, and project governance.
• Deliver top-notch technical services that meet or exceed vendor best practices, DoD guidelines, Air Force requirements, and industry standards.
• Promote team empowerment through collaboration and ensure each team member is engaged and contributing meaningfully.
Core Responsibilities:
• Design, build, and support a secure cloud platform and Linux-based instances based on industry standards and best practices.
• Determine technical standards and specifications; lead the design, build, and support of shared cloud platform components.
• Provide professional support services and integration for respective products.
• Implement products following established best practices.
• Review current architectural landscapes and make recommendations for improvement.
• Evaluate multiple solutions and determine the best fit for mission needs.
• Design, develop, and maintain Linux-based instances and backend applications.
• Deploy and maintain web application technologies and middleware on Linux platforms.
• Research new technologies and assess their applicability to business processes.
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) advisory services, including Tier 2 platform support.
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) advisory and troubleshooting for Hyperion, OAS, ODI, and OID applications/servers.
• Configure and execute vulnerability and web application scans.
• Use various different tools to identify, investigate, troubleshoot databases and performance issues (Database Logs, Server Logs, OEM, etc.) to ensure database availability.
• Installing and maintaining the Oracle database software.
• Tune databases by identifying long running SQL's and created indexes to improve performance.
• Database maintenance tasks (backup and restore via RMAN, Data Pump), update and patching, user maintenance, space management, performance tuning
________________________________________ MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Active DoD Secret Clearance (eligible for Top Secret).
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
Minimum of eight (8) years of system administration and development experience.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience designing and implementing systems and applications in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Experience setting up administrator and service accounts and performing troubleshooting.
Skilled in creating, updating, and maintaining system documentation; evaluating vendor products; and monitoring AWS instances and services.
Deep understanding of AWS capabilities, architectures, and engineering solutions across multiple cloud accounts.
Hands-on experience with AWS CLI and management console.
Strong knowledge of architecting , managing and configuring Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) within agile environments.
Proficiency with both Microsoft Server, Oracle and Linux operating systems.
Experience developing and implementing vulnerability remediation strategies.
Ability to write process requirements, technical design documents, and standard operating procedures.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional, diverse teams.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
Proven technical knowledge of networks, internet systems, databases, and operating systems (Linux, Oracle and Microsoft in AWS).
Working knowledge of programming languages such as Perl, Python, SQL and shell scripting.
Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems and related products.
Demonstrated experience in systems planning, security principles, and system management best practices.
• Troubleshoot day-to-day issues for various servers, databases, and applications and provide resolution to other senior or junior technicians.
• Active DoD Tier 3 investigation required; eligibility for Tier 5 preferred.
Preferred:
• Experience supporting federal or DoD cloud programs.
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps environments.
• Experience with COTS product integration in secure cloud environments.
