Job description

Enterprise Solutions and Management (ESM) is a rapidly growing government contractor that provides strategic IT services that meet mission needs for Defense and Federal customers. We are hiring a Systems Administrator for an exciting opportunity.
Job Description and Responsibilities
The successful candidate administers and maintains enterprise Windows, Linux, and Unix server environments supporting mission-critical applications and management information systems, including virtualized and cloud-based infrastructures within DoD/Army environments. Responsibilities include system configuration, patching, upgrades, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, identity and security management, backup and recovery operations, SAN and database administration (MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle), and automation using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, and Ruby. The successful candidate manages high-availability and scalable systems, load balancing, server virtualization, configuration management, and deployment processes while ensuring compliance with Government policies, cybersecurity requirements, records retention standards, and IT certification/accreditation procedures. Additional responsibilities include capacity planning, performance tuning, software and firmware deployments, user account administration, data integrity monitoring, disaster recovery support, and hardware/software issue resolution to maintain secure, reliable, and fault-tolerant enterprise IT operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)
  • Knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems administration, including configuration, maintenance, patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, and virtual machine environment administration.
  • Experience performing operating system event and performance monitoring, resolving system configuration issues, and maintaining network connectivity and throughput.
  • Knowledge of operating system security, identity management, records retention, backup and recovery procedures, and compliance with Government policies and procedures.
  • Experience maintaining server hardware, operating systems, applications, storage configurations, RAID configurations, and supporting system imaging, upgrades, patches, and firmware installations.
  • Ability to administer enterprise production environments, including automated installation, deployment, configuration management, server virtualization, enterprise monitoring, and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues.
  • Knowledge of database and storage administration, including management of database servers, storage devices, data integrity monitoring, backup operations, and system performance improvement measures.
  • Ability to support cloud-based environments, user account administration, software testing and deployment, proof-of-concept efforts, and DoD/Army-approved IT certification and authorization processes

    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
    • A+
    • Linux+
    • OR other equivalent nationally recognized certification

Minimum Clearance
  • Secret

Physical Requirements
  • Required to stand, walk and sit; communicate verbally both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking (including stairs) throughout offices and between buildings. May require use of public transportation, personal or Government vehicle to drive to local and/or remote office locations.
