ARC operates out of 4 regions in Canada–Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and Regina and in the US - and services a broad base of private and public sector clients. Service delivery is focused in five main technology solution verticals: Systems Delivery, Enterprise Information Management, Mobile Solutions, Training and Managed Services; with industry expertise in Energy, Utilities, Government, Financial Services and the Public Sector.
ARC Business Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Systems Administrator for a three month contract in Edmonton, AB. On site work is required.
ROLE:  Senior Systems Administrator
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-day responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct regular client environment reviews and produce clear health reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Identify security risks, misconfigurations, and vulnerabilities before they become incidents, and drive remediation to completion.
  • Build, maintain, and enforce documentation standards, including runbooks and SOPs for repeatable client processes.
  • Lead Microsoft 365 and Azure environment design, migration, and optimization projects for multiple clients.
  • Administer Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, Intune, Defender, and Exchange Online in modern cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Manage hybrid identity environments and Azure IaaS workloads, including identity sync, access controls, and VM infrastructure.
  • Design and implement network solutions, including firewalls, switching, VLANs, SD WAN, and VPNs across multiple vendors.
  • Support and optimize mixed vendor network environments (Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki, Ubiquiti, and others).
  • Manage on premises server infrastructure, including Windows Server, VMware/Hyper V, and storage platforms.
  • Own backup and disaster recovery solutions end to end, including design, implementation, monitoring, and regular restore testing.
  • Conduct client security reviews and produce clear risk reports, remediation plans, and security roadmaps.
  • Respond to and coordinate security incidents across the client base, including escalation and post incident review.
  • Contribute to scoping and estimating project work, providing technical input into quotes and proposals.
  • Design and manage proactive monitoring, patching, and maintenance programs across the client base.
  • Supports consulting project teams with technical scoping, solution design, and knowledge transfer for smooth MSP handovers.
  • Propose and help implement service improvements and operational efficiencies within the MSP.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level team members through shadowing, knowledge sharing, and informal coaching to build overall team capability
  • Provide operational support for users across multiple time zones and regions, including participation in business-impacting incidents or escalations that may occur outside standard local business hours, in accordance with established support and escalation processes.
  • Assist during peak operational periods such as onboarding waves, device refresh cycles, outages, or high-volume support events.

Role-Specific Skills & Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in IT support or systems administration, with significant experience in an MSP or multi client SMB environment.
  • Strong hands on Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, Defender), including migrations and complex troubleshooting.
  • Azure administration experience, including IaaS (VMs, networking, storage), Entra ID, Conditional Access, and hybrid identity (e.g., Azure AD Connect).
  • Solid networking knowledge (routing, switching, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs) with practical experience managing mainstream SMB firewalls (e.g., SonicWall, Fortinet).
  • Practical cybersecurity experience (EDR/XDR, MFA, vulnerability management, security reviews, and incident response) suitable for SMB environments.
  • Experience with RMM and PSA tools in an MSP context, including tuning monitoring, patching, and automation policies.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple client environments, prioritize competing demands, and own tasks and projects through to completion.
